The Manager, Financial Operations contributes to financial operations and reporting processes for Simply Group. The role will be a key member of the finance team and engages with senior members of key functional groups across the business. They will take ownership of the reporting and controls framework, provide guidance to junior team members, be an effective problem solver, and drive meaningful insight of the business up to senior leadership.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Participate in month-end close activities.
  • Prepare monthly reports in CaseWare and quarterly and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Controllership team on the implementation of new consolidation and reporting tools.
  • Maintain and run the IFRS 9 model and provide analysis of movements in the provision and translate into meaningful insight for the business.
  • Review monthly portfolio write-offs and month-end reconciliations.
  • Report, manage and analyze KPIs relevant to financial operations, such as net margin, yield analysis, and movements in IFRS 9 provision staging.
  • Document existing controls and effect the implementation of new controls framework.
  • Oversee accounts receivable functions such as posting of daily receipts, deposits, returned payments, payment re-applications and generating daily PAP files.
  • Review daily reconciliation of bank accounts and credit card accounts.
  • Support Controllership, FP&A and Corporate Development functions on reporting & audit, strategic planning, and new business development & deal analysis.
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned to support the team and department
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must have at least 4+ years financial reporting experience in a financial institution or related industry.
  • Professional designation such as CPA is preferred.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Microsoft GP and reporting tools such as Crystal reports and Caseware will be considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills, experience in meeting deadline with multiple projects.
  • High proficiency in using data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI also considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues and KPIs.
  • Ability to multi-task and execute with precision, strong attention to detail and follow-through, ability to manage and direct multiple projects and priorities to meet tight deadlines.
