Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), the Manager, Financial Forecasting is accountable for setting the departmental unit strategic direction and providing daily operational leadership for the Forecasting unit. The position works closely with Investments, Capital Management, Pricing, Claims, Financial Reporting and Budgeting departments in order to meet business objectives.
The department and the primary objectives are as follows:Financial Forecasting prepares and disseminates the corporate financial forecast for the annual Public Utilities Board (PUB) rate application and for Senior Management and Executive.
The Manager, Financial Forecasting is responsible for setting policies and procedures, and planning and analysis for forecasting, in order to align and aid in the attainment of the Corporation's goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the maintenance and updating of the Capital Management Corporate Financial Forecasting Model relevant to the Minimum Capital Test (MCT).
Oversee the maintenance, updating, and auditing of the Corporate Financial Forecasting Model. All accounting, actuarial, expense, and investment changes need to be captured frequently within the Financial Forecasting Model to ensure accurate and reliable financial statements for the PUB and Senior Management
Direct, review, coordinate, and administer short-and long-range financial forecasts for the Corporation and the department. Make recommendations taking into consideration expectations and uncertainties, historical information, trend analysis, economic indicators, competitive conditions, and corporate objectives and strategic plans.
Oversee the preparation of the financial forecasts, reports, analysis, explanations, and exhibits for inclusion in the PUB General Rate Application. Work with various departments to coordinate inputs into the financial forecast.
Participate in the General Rate Application (GRA) responses to interrogatories and attend the PUB rate hearing as an advisory resource.
Participate in and engage others in decision-making, information sharing, and identifying opportunities for improvement, resolution of client group concerns, and encourage others to do the same.
Support the implementation of new policies and procedures and corporate strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education:Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related discipline.
Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA).
Experience:Eight years of senior-level experience in financial analysis and financial forecasting experience including.
+ Five years are in a leadership position.
+ Experience in financial information systems and software applications with a focus on financial forecasting.
+ Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships and contractual relationships.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:A technical foundation in accounting with a working knowledge of related principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
