Intact Ventures is a leading venture capital fund focused on making direct investments into world-class start-ups in the areas of fintech, insurtech, proptech, big data, and artificial intelligence. With $600m managed across three funds, Intact Ventures primarily invests into early-stage, hyper growth businesses. Intact Ventures is looking for someone who can own the financial management function of the fund and be a key contributor working alongside the Intact Ventures leadership team. Though this is not an investment team role, this team member will have regular engagement with world class start-ups and senior levels of management within the tech companies we invest in. Further, this team member will engage with senior executive levels across Intact Financial Corporation.

This role reports directly into the VP Investments for Intact Ventures and is the most senior non-investment role on the team. The right candidate needs to be comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environment working on a wide range of projects alongside the fund\xe2\x80\x99s senior management. This is a new role and we are looking for someone who is keen to build out this new function.

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a Manager, Finance & Operations, to join our growing Venture Capital team!

This person will be keen to learn new skills, be creative in problem solving and work within a fast paced and energetic team.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do here:

In this role you will manage all support functions for Intact Ventures from a finance and operations perspective and the opportunity to manage junior team members.

Finance management

  • Managing all portfolio valuation tracking; including engaging with portfolio company CFOs to ensure we are up to date on results, forecasts, general business performance
  • Working with the investment team to agree on valuations of investments in accordance with auditing process and working with our auditors to agree on valuations of each of our investments
  • Coordinating closing processes for new investments and exits, including executing regular funding requests from our fund portfolio
  • Coordinating information sharing between the Venture Investment team and key functions in Intact Financial Corporation including Tax, Accounting, Finance, Investor Relations, Public Relations
Communication management
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly updates to be shared with key stakeholders around the progress of our fund
  • Upon execution or public disclosure of investments, work with investment team and necessary internal stakeholders to ensure proper dissemination of information
  • Manage communication strategy and key information sharing with executives as needed in collaboration with IR and communications team
Operations Involvement
  • Research work alongside investment team, including the opportunity to be involved in due diligence processes, review financial models, and have input into valuation tactics
  • Manage key metrics data base of previous deal metrics, publicly traded and privately traded deal comparables that can be used as input into investment processes.
  • Managing risk oversight processes, including liaising with IFC risk committee and fraud teams
What you bring to the table:

  • 5 years experience in accounting or financial planning type role
  • Undergraduate degree: Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance
  • Proven track record working with fast paced teams
  • Hyper attention to detail and experience working in a large organization
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong financial background
