Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, the Manager, Finance & Accounting will be managing the external reporting, including the consolidation process, quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and other filings required by the SEC and CSA. Other responsibilities include providing technical accounting advice and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting as required. This role will have one direct report as well as indirect reporting from those responsible for the reporting of our various subsidiaries and divisions.
Position Responsibilities

• Work closely with Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting to manage the consolidation process, preparation of the financial statements and MD&A under SEC and US GAAP reporting guidance
• Monitor and analyze accounting transactions including implementation of new guidance, prepare technical memos to support management's conclusions, and discuss and communicate the analysis with senior management
• Collaborate with FP&A team and local controllers to prepare variance analysis on segment-level financial information
• Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations between legal entities
• Manage and coordinate communication with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues
• Maintain existing and implement improved business and accounting processes and policies
• Participate in other projects such as system implementations, system upgrades, and ad hoc projects as required
• Management of one direct report, including:
• Monitoring completion of projects, conducting performance reviews, providing guidance and growth opportunities
• Delegating tasks to team members and providing direction and support to ensure deadlines are met
• Supervising and maintaining the effectiveness and efficiency of team deliverables

Position Requirements

• Chartered Professional Accountant with US GAAP knowledge; ability to identify issues, interpret and apply accounting guidance
• 4-6 years progressive experience preferably within a public company and/or a big 4 accounting firm
• Experience in SOX compliance and internal control over financial reporting
• Experience working with fast-paced and dynamic multi-national companies
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge with MS Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong knowledge of management information and ERP systems: experience with JD Edwards and usage of BI tools (e.g. Cognos, Hyperion Essbase, OneStream) is an asset
• Working knowledge of corporate income tax and transfer pricing concepts
• Attention to detail, high integrity, and intelligence with the ability to exercise good judgment
