Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for the creation, maintenance and sustainability of all LHSC facilities, spaces, and physical infrastructure (electrical, medical gas, emergency power, medical air, pneumatic tube etc., including wayfinding, power, water, and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning). Our Maintenance and Repair, Projects, Power Plant and Support Services teams collaborate with our clinical and patient care groups, external vendors, and other corporate customers to provide innovative design solutions that foster a healthy environment for staff, caregivers, visitors, and patients.
Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management, the Manager, Facilities Management Planning is accountable for the successful planning and delivery of infrastructure development, space planning projects, as well as capital planning projects at LHSC. The Manager serves as the key interface between the clinical programs/leaders and the extensive, multi-disciplinary design & project teams to ensure the infrastructure and capital projects of LHSC meets and adheres to applicable standards and codes in conjunction with patient care and client requirements. In doing so, this role requires a unique blend of experience and understanding, bridging the clinical and planning realms.
The Manager also oversees departmental safety initiatives to establish key policies and guidelines for safe work practices for internal and external staff, contractors, and key shareholders. The Manager will establish design and project management standards that will be utilized for implementation of projects. The Manager is also responsible for the day-to-day staffing, project scheduling, risk, budget utilization measurements, monitoring workflow, and resource allocation for projects. The Manager oversees the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance to all legislative, provincial, and local regulatory agencies (MoHLTC, OBC, Fire Code, CSA Z800, Healthcare Standards, AODA, etc.)
The Manager directs, controls and evaluates the delivery of department services. They are responsible for translating decisions of the program leadership into execution, by utilizing relationship management and working with internal and external partners to achieve the necessary outcomes. The Manager ensures their team and department operations are aligned with our mission, vision and values, while working together to successfully achieve our strategic objectives.
This role is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.

What Skills Are Needed
Experience managing a workorder flow system
Ability to effectively manage third-party services
Knowledge of all relevant codes and regulations related to this position including National and Ontario Building and Fire Codes, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Technical Standards and Safety Act (TSSA), Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Canadian Environmental Protection Act and Operating Engineers Act.
Knowledge of healthcare infrastructure systems
Extensive construction knowledge in contracts and specification
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with RFP's and RFSQ's and the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive Legislation

Knowledge of the Ontario Construction Act

What You Will Bring with You
Successful completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree program in Engineering or Architecture, preferred Related post-graduate education preferred Previous experience managing multiple engineering-related projects
Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification from IFMA preferred
Project Management Certification preferred
Previous management experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in complex facilities environment, preferred
Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital
Preference and consideration will be given to active members of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) who have, or are in process of attaining the Canadian Health Executive (CHE) Select certification program
Ability to effectively work with diversity, appreciating that different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics can bring richness to the challenge at hand
Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
