Working with the Director, Real Estate and Facilities, this role fosters a culture of safety, quality, and internal and external customer service.   • Subject matter expert - Responsible for the technical functioning of the Facility; ensure appropriate processes and equipment are in place and assists in developing new processes or changes.
a. Advanced HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Plumbing knowledgeb. Mission critical facilities - Generators, UPS, CRAC units, and associated MEP equipmentc. Critical and non-critical Building Operations, maintenance and repair
  • Compliance focused - lead local compliance with all building codes and requirements.
a. Building, fire, environment, health and safety, and lab regulations, codes and standards.b. Establish, monitor, measure and report Laboratory Facilities performance metrics; analyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement.c. Lead AODA requirements for buildings
  • Manage local environment, health, safety and security protocols
a. Co-lead local Joint Health and Safety committeesb. Lead fire and evacuation committees where required and ensure appropriate trainingc. Lead spill response ensuring equipment, communications and processes are in placed. Management of onsite life-safety and emergency equipmente. Lead security of perimeter and accessf. Develop, implement and review control mechanisms and processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and Dynacare requirements and to ensure mitigation of risks
  • Customer service - Be inclusive and encourage trust and open communication by addressing staff concerns and inquiries.
a. Development of internal service level agreementsb. Maintain adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary to ensure on time solutionc. Monitors quality - coordinate system repairs and monitors system performance (Lab and LHSC,Corporate offices) such as chemical disposal, HVAC
  • Vendor management - assess and monitor performance and be solutions focused such as contracting outlandscaping and snow removal services
a. Lead RFPs and establish a network to support the operationb. Assist with the communication of information in a concise and timely manner to all staff regardingpolicy and facility changes and other pertinent issues
  • Operations planning - manage the departmental business planning and goal development process, including developing and executing a one-year business plan.
a. Process and engineering approach - establish po-active preventative maintenanceb. Financial knowledge - coordinate capital projects and procurement required for facilities and ensurechange management and financial controls are in placeWhat YOU bring to the role:
  • Community college diploma or equivalent training (e.g. RPA, CET)
  • 3 to 5 years of facility management work experience
  • Advanced experience in facility business continuity and emergency preparedness planning and execution.
  • Advanced knowledge in complex industrial laboratory building infrastructure and related systems
  • Superior demonstrated understanding of the principles and processes for providing customer service skills, including strong written and oral communications with the goal of exceeding quality standards for services
  • In-depth knowledge of management reports
  • Experience in applying project management principles and techniques
  • Ability to effectively manage constraints and competing priorities; ability to multi-task and demonstrated success in both
  • Develop and nurture a culture of health and safety, security, quality, environmental stewardship, service, performance, innovation, adaptiveness and consistency
  • Leadership skills - seasoned professional with strong leadership acumen, including experience in mentoring and coaching individual and teams
SKILLS AND ABILITIESTechnical Skills
  • Experience in Implementation of Help Desk Ticketing systems, Computerized Maintenance Management
Systems (CMMS), Computer Assisted Facility Management Systems (CAFM) and Building Automation Systems (BMS)
  • Capability to understand the scientific and technical functioning of the Operational and Clinical Departments - read and interpret blue prints and technical drawings, utilize CAD, VISIO, Microsoft Project, and Excel
  • Full proficiency with MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Docusign and G Suite
Social Process Skills
  • Strong organization communication skills and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment
  • Strategic and pro-active thinker, lean, reliability-centred approach to trouble-shooting and problem solving
  • Strong decision-making ability to effectively manage constraints and competing priorities
  • Capacity to effectively communicate to the management and executive teams
