Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (AVP) (International) and Chief International Officer, you\'ll step into a pivotal role within the URI leadership team. Your mission? To orchestrate the success of URI\'s short and long-term strategic operations with flair!The Manager, Executive Operations oversees the development and implementation of initiatives, policies and procedures that contribute to the overall vision and goals of URI. The role assists the AVP by providing strategic leadership, direction and coordination of URI services while overseeing: all administrative protocols and processes associated with operational resources (human, financial, and facilities); student support; policy development; program research and development; occupational health and safety; marketing; and revenue-generating activities.The Manager, Executive Operations provides leadership and coordination for developing and maintaining all infrastructure and business operations that enable the unit to achieve the URI mandate in alignment with the University\'s Strategic Plan.What You\'ll Do:

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and review of strategic plans, policies and procedures to guide and oversee the efficient, effective operations of all URI;
  • Oversees and administers the budgets for URI including a lead role and/or primary responsibility for preparation of the annual budget, budget analysis, midyear reporting and research and special project funds.
  • Provides advice and guidance to the AVP (International) on the impact of budget decisions and recommends for or against specific courses of action so as to ensure the support of the URI stakeholders and the ability to achieve the University and URI strategic goals;
  • Oversees and administers the human resource function for the URI, including staff recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management;
  • Provides advice and guidance to the AVP (International) on matters of staffing (APT, CUPE, and out-of-scope) position requirements;
  • Manages all aspects of URI facilities, including space allocation, assignment/reassignment, upkeep, repair and general maintenance, renovations and functional changes;
  • Oversees and manages the URI fixed asset inventory, including asset control measures. Ensures management of assets is in alignment with the University\'s policies and procedures;
  • Fulfills the role of Acting Manager/Director in the absence of Managers/Director;
  • Oversees the overall communication strategy of URI, including management of the URI website;
  • Works closely with all URI units;
  • Acts as Designated Records Officer (DRO) for URI with responsibility for oversight and management of the units\' records (digital and paper);
  • Researches international education trends in higher education to advise the AVP and leadership team on the course of action;
  • Develops and implements policy and processes as required to optimize best practices for managing international portfolios in higher education;
  • Researches and implements mechanisms globally to advise on campus internationalization strategies;
  • Acts as primary account requester, administrator, and all other employee security access processes;
  • Ensures that government and University policies and procedures are followed;
  • Recommends, develops, and modifies internal policies and procedures to determine the effective use of URI resources; and,

Position RequirementsWhat You\'ll Bring to this Position:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Two to five years of experience in international higher education. Additional relevant education is considered an asset.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
  • In-depth knowledge of University of Regina policies and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of applying policies and procedures within an organizational/institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of government legislation and policies and procedures applicable to hosting international students, human resources, and labour.
  • Knowledge and experience of recruitment practices, interviewing, selection of new staff, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Knowledge of general principles of accounting is required.
  • International-related experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a professional, diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a workload that requires intense focus and accuracy.
  • Strong ability to adapt.
  • Superior English reading, writing and communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with skills in a second language.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office programs and FAST, Banner, Caspur, Cascade Server, and other University centralized security systems; or equivalent systems.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology to design, plan, initiate, organize and direct project tasks to implement programs and services.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent cultural knowledge, sensitivity, and patience.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and in an additional language is a strong asset.
Physical Demands
Pay Grade APT 7
Salary Range $80,496 - $108,632 (Effective July 1, 2024)
Status Term
Work HoursMonday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
In addition, the position will require work during some evenings and weekends. Travel within Canada and abroad may be required.
Working from home is not an option.
Duration (if Term/Temporary) 7 months, with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent
