Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Engineering & Reliability Manager to join our Vale Newfoundland and Labrador (VNL) team. This is a permanent position. This position will be based in the St. John\xe2\x80\x99s office with frequent travel to both the Long Harbour Operations and Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Mine Site.

As an Engineering & Reliability Manager, you will provide leadership for the operations in the definition, development, and improvement of Engineering & Reliability performance so that the VNL operations can achieve world-class performance while meeting business goals.\xe2\x80\x8b You will also be responsible to consolidate all of the regulatory standards for Engineering, and Reliability across VNL, engage and influence the leadership teams across Newfoundland & Labrador in the leadership of Engineering & Reliability and develop, build, and integrate systems and define appropriate use of technology within the existing business model to build capability of Engineering & Reliability for future performance in the operations. Lastly, you will develop relationships with site maintenance leadership teams, to ensure meeting Vale Base Metals Maintenance standards.

In this position, you will:

• Develop, build, and integrate systems and define appropriate use of technology within the existing business model to build capability of Engineering & Reliability for future performance in the operations.
• Consolidate all the regulatory standards for Engineering, and Reliability across Vale Newfoundland & Labrador.
• Develop relationships with site maintenance leadership teams, to ensure meeting Vale Base metals maintenance standards.
• Work cooperatively across plants, to ensure variation control techniques are applied.
• Monitor and control costs within the area of control. Review and adjust budgets as necessary.
• Provide leadership and guidance for personnel to analyze trends and root causes to improve process equipment reliability.

About You

Education:

• Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.
• Professional Engineer Designation (P.Eng) is considered an asset.

Experience:

• Ten years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a role supporting operations within the mining industry.
• Balanced functional knowledge in mining, metallurgy, or chemical processes.
• Experience with fly in, fly-out operations is essential.
• Experience with project ramp up and equipment design is essential.

Skills:

• Leadership and people management abilities (mentoring, managing influencing others).
• Business Management Skills (resource, planning & work prioritization management, results focused, finance & budgeting knowledge).
• Strong written & verbal communication skills.
