Job Description


Reporting to the Director of Industry and Professional Engagement, the Manager of Employer Services and Training Programs team is responsible for managing the Employer Services team to operationalize the Academic and Industry Integrations (aii) division's efforts to deliver a central intake model for industry and community partners to further engage with Sheridan College.Under the direction of the Director, and in collaboration with the Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS) unit, the incumbent is responsible for leading the business development of corporate training as a means of further business diversification that results in net new revenue for CAPS and Sheridan.The incumbent is also responsible for leading the implementation of the division's employer engagement strategies, by developing and implementing targeted approaches to attract, incentivize, engage and retain employers to partner with Sheridan and Sheridan's students. To support these efforts, the Manager will also manage the division's brand and lead the development and update of new and existing communications and marketing assets.What You'll be Doing

  • Establishing corporate training service and community partnership goals and developing objectives and strategies to meet them.
  • Analyzing employer and Sheridan needs, as well as industry trends and academic opportunities. Synthesizes findings and identifies best practices to develop innovative, strategic solutions for employer outreach, marketing, and partnership negotiation.
  • Researching and developing new ways of engaging with employers, responding to their needs, and connecting them with students through enhanced employer relations.
  • Leading the implementation of a central intake model, which includes streamlined and accessible pathways for employers and industry to partner with Sheridan on Career Integrated Learning (CIL), CAPS, and Corporate Training initiatives
  • Developing and implementing strategies to educate employers and industry on ways to partner with Sheridan and Sheridan's students (co-op, internships, field experiences, applied research, capstone projects, classroom engagement and talks, etc.).
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing employer and student events
  • Coordinating with the CAPS team to establish corporate training service goals, executes strategies to expand CAPS into new and profitable markets; seeks funding opportunities.
  • Working with the CAPS team and the Director of Industry and Professional Engagement to set and meet revenue and partnership generation targets for corporate and professional training, third party funding, and new reciprocal value relationships between Sheridan and industry.
  • Participating in the development of a broad range of campaigns related to promotion of corporate training projects in support of recruitment strategies and enrolment targets.
  • Working as the key link between the CAPS unit and the Career Integrated Learning (CIL) unit, the incumbent develops targeted marketing strategies, messaging, and tools for Co-op Job Developers to sell corporate training and CAPS products to potential clients
  • Working with the Director of Industry and Professional Engagement to develop a comprehensive marketing plan, a variety of marketing assets, and an ongoing presence to engage industry and community partners.
  • Ensuring that Sheridan wide advertising as well as targeted co-op job development and corporate training/upskilling business development activities meet Sheridan's strategic objectives.
  • Coordinating strategies related to outreach, social media, and other forms of employer engagement.
  • Providing leadership, guidance and direction to staff; Optimizes staff and department performance. Builds professional capacity through effective development, mentoring/coaching, workflow/goal setting and ongoing performance management and evaluation (including discipline, grievances, terminations) as required
  • Ensuring that the operational assignments of team are carried out consistently with Sheridan policies and procedures. This includes recruiting, records procedures and other employment related activities (e.g. administration of attendance management, performance

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in business, entrepreneurship and innovation, community workforce/economic development or a related field of study
  • 5 years of experience managing progressively complex projects / programs (Equivalency will be considered).
  • Project management certification, business development / entrepreneurship certification or equivalent is required.
  • Management/leadership or progressive work experience in a post-secondary educational environment or similar experience in training and development environment
  • Experience in financial budgeting, management, and reporting
  • Experience with employer relations and marketing techniques to attract and build career-integrated-learning (CIL), CAPS, and corporate training opportunities
  • Proven success with business development and/or improving sales and profitability.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of current information and communication technologies and their relation to college business and academic strategic objectives.
  • Advanced entrepreneurial skills to develop and deliver concise, benefits-focused value propositions to senior leaders/decision-makers
  • Excellent leadership, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, teamwork, managerial and leadership skills
  • Conflict resolution and demonstrated creative problem-solving skills
