The Opportunity
The Manager, Diagnostic Imaging reports to the Director of Diagnostic Services & Maritime Medical Genetics and is responsible for the day-to-day operations, planning, and evaluation of Diagnostic Imaging services at IWK Health. Span of control includes the following areas : Registration and scheduling, Xray, MRI, CT, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Density, Ultrasound, Breast Imaging, DIIS, Research, and Quality Management.
This role provides leadership to staff across multiple imaging areas, supports the department's quality management, and holds accountability for imaging safety. Working alongside the DI operations manager, this position helps ensure safe, high-quality, cost-effective care aligned with strategic priorities. The Manager collaborates with internal teams and external partners to enhance patient care, support clinical planning, and drive continuous improvement across services. The Manager is responsible for initiating, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating clinical-administrative activities across various modalities and non-clinical areas within DI.
The Manager combines clinical and administrative knowledge and experience to mobilize resources in the continuous improvement of care quality and patient experience. They ensure the daily actions of their team are guided by values of compassion, excellence, respect, equity, and mutual support. The Manager works with their team to achieve organizational strategic goals using best practices and evidence-based research. They facilitate and promote innovation within their team, as well as research and academic involvement, by evaluating the feasibility of potential clinical or educational research projects to improve or develop new care and service models.
