What You Will Do

Reporting to the Director - Technical Support, you will be responsible for Technical Design Review which includes ensuring the technical adequacy, quality control and timely issuance of technical reviews for Engineering, Construction & Expansion (ECE) Group capital project designs, Metrolinx reviews and Design Standard Variance Requests (DSVR), Developer reviews and other assignments.
This involves the following:
Managing the technical review of 3rd Party, non-TTC facility and infrastructure projects (Developments) connecting to or within 60m of TTC infrastructure.
Stakeholders Relationship Management and Routing System Management
Managing the Metrolinx Subway Expansion and LRT projects relationships per existing agreements and TTC Design Standards for technical reviews within the Commission with respect to impacts to TTC infrastructure, systems and operations.
Ensuring the technical adequacy, quality control and timely issuance/completion of technical reviews for Metrolinx Subway and LRT design submissions issued to TTC stakeholders; and ensuring design standards and operational requirements are met.
Managing the technical review process through the web-based Review Routing System for reviewing and commenting on technical submissions by staff throughout the TTC.
Supporting the coordination of construction phase design change and construction submittal reviews to TTC stakeholders.
Substitutes for the Director - Technical Support as required.

Proven ability to provide technical direction to staff, and work effectively in a matrix environment.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including the ability to understand database systems management (Access or SQL).
Sound judgement; well developed management, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills; excellent interpersonal, presentation and oral and written communication.
What Qualifications Do You Bring

Completion of a University Degree in Architecture or Engineering; or through 10+ years of equivalent experience in the in design of transit related facilities, structures and equipment; or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
Registration as a Professional Engineer or Licensed Architect in the Province of Ontario is mandatory.
Experience in a project management environment is preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of multi-discipline engineering design and architectural design, construction, contracting, and project management techniques.
Strong familiarity with municipal and provincial planning and zoning processes, and comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes and statutes.
Proven ability to provide technical direction to staff, and work effectively in a matrix environment.
Familiarity with HTML, ASP, Java and XML programming language for web based programming.
Good knowledge of the property development industry and agreements.
An understanding of the abilities and scope of CADD, particularly Microstation.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including the ability to design/develop database systems (Access or SQL).
