SCOPE
Reporting to the Director, Client and Infrastructure Services, the incumbent provides leadership and direction to a team of administrators and analysts in a complex and continually changing environment. They will proactively develop and fosters strong relationships with internal and external clients and ensures a reliable service that consistently responds to their needs. Oversee infrastructure level 3 support and liaise with Customer Experience team. The incumbent also ensure that development or project commitments are met.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
o Manage professional staff- anticipate, prepare and respond to change in a proactive manner;. manage team attrition and expansion as needed.
o Ensure that all work is properly scheduled, completed, tested, and documented as specified and using industry standard practices and procedures.
o Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.
o Establish and monitor service level targets.
o Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work, project plans, progress reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts; negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.
o Develop, implement, document and maintain industry standard practices and procedures in support of mandate.
o Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation; manage software license agreements, maintenance contracts and other service agreements.
o Ensure that all systems and software related to supported infrastructure services meet all applicable security, availability, reliability, and performance standards; respond quickly and professionally to system failures.
o Assist and inform the university community with respect to the use and support of infrastructure services.
o Manage and control system changes for a large team of analysts and consultants within the IITS environment;ensure that proper processes are followed when developing or changing applications.
o Oversee installation and regular maintenance of purchased infrastructure hardware and software.
o Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, unit heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities.
o Manage annual endpoint, classroom, meeting room data center evergreen programs to ensure technological health and security.
o Maintain a high level of knowledge in all aspects of infrastructure authentication, communications and collaboration systems and services.
o Anticipate, plan and respond to technological change in a proactive manner.
o Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
o Assist in the design and implementation of short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
o Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science or management information systems or a related field with over seven years of systems administration experience, including at least two in a management capacity.
o PMP or ITIL certification considered an asset.
o Demonstrated large-scale project-management skills.
o Broad understanding of information systems.
o Demonstrated planning, organizational and decision-making skills, coupled with the ability to establish and respond to priorities.
o Proven ability as an IT change champion.
o Minimum two years hands-on experience supporting MS Exchange, Active Directory and NTFS file share systems, AWS or Microsoft cloud services.
o In-depth knowledge of Linux/Windows OS is considered an asset.
o Hands-on experience supporting NFS or other Unix/Linux based file sharing/file transfer solutions are considered assets.
o Cloud Experience and Cyber security awareness are considered assets.
o Generalist who understands the strategic implication of various infrastructure authentication, communications and collaboration services.
o Experience with source control, change control and change management software as well as ITIL methodologies.
o Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
o Dedication to providing exceptional customer service.
o Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to motivate people in contextually conflicting circumstances.
o Proven team leader and team builder, with ability to foster a positive team environment.
Good knowledge of spoken and written English language skills (Level 4); basic knowledge of French (Level 3) Written French considered an asset.
o Experience using project management tools, Intermediate Level Excel (able to format spreadsheets and perform mathematical, financial, and statistical calculations); Basic knowledge of MS Word (able to input and format documents).
