Purpose

The Manager, Data Analysis & Engineering role is a part of the Client Insights and Analytics team. The group supports Global Banking and Markets in providing oversight and executing strategic initiatives across all divisions of Global Banking and Markets. This team is responsible for driving the analytics to drive client profitability, sales effectiveness and segmentation. This team is responsible for identifying business opportunities through the use of analytics to drive revenue growth.

This role supports the analysis and strategy functions of Global Banking and Markets using Client MIS data. The incumbent will be heavily involved with data extraction, manipulation, mapping, query & database design, and must be capable of developing new tools and analysis to support the needs of GBM and GBM Executives. This role contributes to the overall success of Global Banking and Markets by providing reporting and insight necessary for evaluation and decision-making purposes.

  • Develop Reporting - Develop meaningful performance and financial reporting; clearly communicate findings.
  • Data Flow Design and Development - Design and create processes that enable reporting and automation.
  • Develop Models and Tools - Build, as required, new analytics, reporting models, and tools.
  • Monthly and Quarterly Reporting - Production, testing, and validation of monthly/quarterly reporting.
  • Perform Analysis - Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis, interpret results.
  • Logic and Algorithm Design - Review, maintain, and develop the algorithms implemented in current tools and processes.
  • Conduct Research - Research and implement best practices for analysis and reporting.
  • Ad Hoc Requests - Support ad hoc requests from Executive Management, auditors, regulators, ratings agencies, research analysts and other external parties as required.
  • Team Environment - Contribute to an environment in which the team works together to produce creative and value-added strategic analyses while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
  • Undergraduate degree in economics/math/computer science.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in capital markets, finance, IT, reporting, or analytics.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with proven ability to interpret data, spot patterns and anomalies, and provide insight.
  • Strong creativity: be able to solve difficult problems with innovative or unconventional techniques when standard approaches fail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Results-driven and able to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Comfortable working with all levels of management across the organization.
  • Extensive understanding of data and experience with working with multi-million row datasets.
  • Knowledge of algorithm design is a plus.
  • Experienced with Excel (VBA custom functions, Pivot tables, nested formulas, charting), PowerPoint, data mining, and reporting with Tableau/Power BI.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and Python; have experience developing applications.
  • Strong understanding of and practical experience with modern entity resolution techniques.
  • Self-starter and demonstrated high level of sustained initiative, ability to apply strategic critical thinking to business issues and drive results.
