Manager, Corporate Services

in our

Toronto Corporate Services group.

This is an exciting new role and a great opportunity for an experienced manager but also for a senior law clerk who is looking to take the next step in their career. This position will be key in the support functions and daily operations of the Toronto Corporate Services group.


Please note that this role offers a hybrid workweek. Each week will combine both working at home for a few days and working in the office for the balance. Your hybrid schedule will start once you join McMillan!

What You'll Do





As the Manager of Corporate Services, you will oversee and supervise the daily operations of the Toronto Corporate Services team, including work distribution, delegation and resource planning. Your prior experience as a law clerk will assist with your oversight of the quality and output of the work product while identifying opportunities in the team for training and mentorship. You will develop and deliver seminars and training programs for the department and other firm members as well as programs for practicum/coop placement students. You will provide feedback in terms of performance, productivity and department utilization for your department and assist the Director, Law Clerks & Paralegals with staffing and recruitment. Finally, with the support of the Director, Law Clerks & Paralegals, you will facilitate special projects and participate in implementation of new technology or process relating to firm initiatives. Your passion for client work will assist you in taking on billable client work, as required, and other duties as assigned.


What You Bring





You have established yourself as a key resource in your successful legal career. Your history includes a Law Clerk Diploma or Certificate, coupled with a minimum of seven years of Corporate Services related experience. You have strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills. You work well in a team setting as well as independently and provide an exceptional level of client service. You embrace evolving technology and have strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and thrive using your analytical skills. You have experience with iManage, a digital management system as well as Provincial and Federal government corporate portals, including service provider corporate search portals. You thrive with advancing technology such as cloud-based systems (e.g. MinuteBox) as well as current virtual communication tools such as Webex, Zoom, and Teams.
