General Accountability

Working within the Transportation & Vehicles Department, this strategic leadership position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, tracking, coordination and management of key operations department work plans, processes, key performance indicators (KPIs) and related activities to support and ensure the assigned Group meets key individual Chief and CEO deliverables and priorities. The work includes ensuring timely reporting to the Board and executive committees on the status of various strategic initiatives, critical programs, key performance measures and other priorities.

Key Job Functions

  • Leads the development, tracking, and updates of annual work plans;
  • Prepares briefing notes, board reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Coordinates operational initiatives and meetings including action list development, tracks decision making processes, strategic planning development and ensures deliverables are met;
  • Delivers on special initiatives as part of the five year TTC Corporate Plan and CEO priorities;
  • Monitors and oversees performance improvement with an innovative and forward thinking approach.
  • Collects and documents business needs across the operations groups and departments;
  • Assists with and performs analysis of business needs to prepare justification for new initiatives;
  • Amalgamates key performance indicators and measures for the group as required;
  • Ensures key corporate initiatives, projects/programs, processes and policies are delivered in a timely and well integrated manner;
  • Works collaboratively with the Executive Team and senior management to ensure deliverables are on target, completed on schedule and within budget;
  • Identifies issues, methodologies, teams and impacts on deliverables, and briefs the individual Chief on at risk projects/programs;
  • Manages Board report agendas and ensures timely delivery of reports which includes reviewing and editing reports to ensure accuracy and strong communication to Board on deliverables.
  • Develops, implements and actively promotes processes and tools for making informed decisions at all levels of the organization;
  • Develops and maintains an environment of positive collaboration through strong working relationships across the organization and promotes cross departmental information sharing and coordination;
  • Participates in strategic planning, policy and operational decisions, identifying areas for improved collaboration and continuous improvements;
  • Demonstrates behaviors that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Education and Experience
  • Completion of a university degree or college diploma in a related discipline (i.e., Business/Public Administration) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent;
  • Demonstrated related work experience in operational planning, project management, or business analysis;
  • Experience working in a leadership position within a unionized environment considered an asset;
Additional Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of business development, with advanced strategic planning and project/program management skills and experience to implement corporate level initiatives;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business administration, fiscal and human resources policies and legislation/ regulations regarding safety, human rights, employment, etc.;
  • Highly advanced leadership and facilitation skills, with extensive experience motivating, directing and influencing individuals across multiple operational and business areas;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior management/executive on complex projects;
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated experience establishing, building and maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders for the purpose of meeting corporate objectives;
  • Sound judgement and highly advanced planning, organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills;
  • Familiarity with computers and computer based techniques and applications related to the work;
