The Manager, Contracts will join a category team within the Enterprise Procurement Group. The primary responsibilities are to successfully draft and negotiate procurement contracts for Goods not for Resale, which outline the outcome of negotiations with the supplier(s) and comply with Loblaw\'s internal policies. This role requires the individual to work with other Contracts Managers, Category Managers, Analysts, Business Stakeholders, internal subject matter experts (Privacy, IT Security, Audit) and the Legal department to ensure that the terms and conditions stated in medium to high complexity contracts are in line with Loblaw\xe2\x80\x99s strategic objectives.

Accountabilities:

  • Working with the Legal department where required to draft and complete agreements (Master Agreements, complex Statements of Work, Ordering Documents etc.) of medium to high complexity by applying knowledge of contract law, company policy and feedback from other groups (such as Sr. Manager, Contracts, Enterprise Procurement Group, Category Managers, Business Stakeholders, Legal and vendors).
  • Ongoing review of new and existing supplier contracts for improvement opportunities, including assisting with inquiries from the Business Stakeholders related to recommended contracting strategy and individual contract provisions.
  • Assist with the development of contract summaries for Loblaw senior executives and ensure proper contract filing compliance (electronic and hard copy).
  • Analyze and verify that legal terms in medium to high complexity contracts are in line with category and procurement objectives as well as legal requirements, policies and value maximization for Loblaw.
  • Assist with analyzing post-contractual obligations (volume commitments, contract life, etc.).
  • Analyze the potential for restructuring of existing contracts for additional benefits.
  • Assist stakeholders with operational, process and technical questions regarding the use of the procurement tools (Ariba, Fieldglass).
  • Accountable for providing support in the areas of data errors, change management (internal and vendors) and training (internal and vendors) in relation to contract management tools.
  • Administrative tasks, including opening and publishing a contract, assisting with contract-related inquiries received from the Business, including providing contract information, etc.
  • Provide assessments on the current procurement tools and team processes and provide recommendations to streamline or ameliorate such processes.

Role Requirements:
  • 2 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years experience in drafting and negotiating contracts
A minimum of a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in business, a quantitative field or paralegal studies.
  • Understanding of procurement contract management process and contract provisions
  • Previous experience in category management or strategic sourcing
  • External procurement and/or legal certification preferred
Stakeholder Management

Technical:
  • Advanced PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Contract database management experience
  • Experience with Docusign, SAP Ariba and Fieldglass contract management tools a plus
