Reporting to the Director, Contracts & Procurement, the Manager, Contracts & Procurement Manager facilitates and manages the contracting and purchasing activities for the Saskatoon Project Office and the Rook I Project. This position will be responsible for governance and interface with the EPCM service provider and the NexGen Community team for all commercial aspects of the project. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
( INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO) :

  • Responsible for ensuring that established policies, plans, processes,
procedures, and systems for contracting and purchasing are followed with a focus on their ability to enhance organization value and efficiency.
  • Implementing NexGen’s contracting and procurement strategies.
  • Participating in the implementation of the procurement module within
the Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) system, including developing and implementing processes and procedures with focus on process optimization.
  • Coordinating with the EPCM service provider related to the supply
chain, contracts, and procurement activities on the Rook I project.
  • Responsible for the complete contract and procurement life cycle for
NexGen procured packages.
  • Leading the development and provide training to the NexGen team
(including Project Development, Exploration, Community and Engagement) on procurement policies and associated processes and procedures.
  • Understanding commercial, legal, risk, environment, health and safety
issues and provide advice to the team to ensure the organizations liabilities are minimized.
  • Working with the Community team, understand the obligations under
the various Benefit Agreements and ensure these are reflected in all contracts and procurement processes.
  • Overseeing the bid evaluation process and prepare for, and conduct,
contract award and regret meetings. ROLE OVERVIEW

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Relevant university degree with a minimum of 10 + years of experience
in procurement, contracts, and supply chain management, or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Mining industry or large capital project experience is considered an
asset.
  • Proven team leadership, able to work with project team members at all
levels to meet deliverable deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of ERP contracts
and procurement systems.
  • Supply chain certifications such as APICS or SCMP considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) with general
knowledge of database utilization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and demonstrate safety
leadership.
  • Establishing and negotiating commercial terms and conditions that are
aligned with NexGen’s objectives. Where necessary, consult directly with external legal support and senior management to minimize project and corporate risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
  • Representing NexGen in negotiating contracts and formulating policies
with suppliers, subcontractors, and professional service providers.
  • Coaching other team members on contract and procurement best
practices.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Interfacing regularly with project staff at all levels in relation to
procurement, contracts, change management, and risk management.
  • Responsible for projections, financial planning, expediting, delivery
schedules, and project procurement reporting.
  • Interfacing with the finance and project controls team on budget and
cost control.
  • Working with the project team and selected engineering companies to
identify and recommend opportunities for safety, technology, productivity, and costs improvements while ensuring the safeguarding of life, health, environment, and property.
