The mandate of the Manager, Content Strategy is to develop a clear, organized content strategy that surfaces a balanced mix of stories that showcases successful students, employees, and alumni, spanning all faculties.The manager will develop a deep understanding of college audiences \xe2\x80\x93 both external and internal \xe2\x80\x93 and build their appreciation for Langara as Canada\xe2\x80\x99s premier pathways college. Overseeing a team of Communications Advisors, the manager will oversee the production, publication, and promotion of content across external and internal channels, including written, video, and multimedia content. They will partner with key internal stakeholders to identify content opportunities that advance the college\'s strategic goals, while also contributing to the goals of partner departments.As an experienced content strategist with a love for writing, grammar, and photography standards, the incumbent will ensure we produce top-quality stories and manage the digital platforms on which we tell them.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience:

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related discipline such as Communications, Journalism, Marketing Management, or related Higher Education field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of directly related experience in managing content strategy, editing, and writing.
  • Minimum three (3) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a managerial, supervisory, or leadership role, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Natural talent for persuasive, CTA-driven writing for a young audience.
  • Keen eye for grammar.
  • Good knowledge of the British Columbia and Canadian education systems.
  • Experience supervising and managing unionized staff, including hiring, evaluating, and mentoring.
  • Experience using website platforms such as Drupal or modern intranets to publish content.
  • Experience promoting content through paid advertising
Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional English communication skills, including writing, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytic skills and understanding of data-driven marketing.
  • Ability to innovate, problem-solve, take initiative, exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently, establishing priorities for yourself and direct reports.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Works well under pressure and takes pride meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations.

  • Enthusiastically stays current on new trends and technologies in digital marketing, and identifies opportunities to leverage them in support of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s goals.
  • Knowledge of computer software applications including word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (Excel), and presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote).
  • Knowledge and experience working in a Mac environment.
