Reporting to the Vice President, Safety, this position plays a pivotal role in maintaining and advancing Trimac's safety compliance program across the U.S. and Canada.



We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Manager, Compliance to lead the day-to-day execution of regulatory and operational safety compliance. This role partners closely with the Director, Safety Execution, Director, Investigation & Learning, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Operations, National Tank Services, Learning & Development, and Risk Management to ensure compliance processes are aligned, effective, and field ready.



This role will focus on simplifying complex regulatory requirements into practical, field-friendly processes, ensuring Trimac always remains audit-ready. Key responsibilities include managing Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) execution, ensuring current state for driver qualification files, licenses, and testing records, overseeing roadside inspections and hazmat/TDG documentation, and managing third party compliance vendors such as Avetta and ISN. The Manager will also lead timely audits and corrective actions, and work closely with Safety Execution and Investigation & Learning to ensure findings translate into sustainable compliance improvements.


Who You Are:
Experience leading specialists and administrative teams, with a track record of driving compliance outcomes through effective collaboration with operations partners. Strong organizational skills: ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines through effective planning and time management. Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and compliance/document management systems. Clear and effective communicator, delivering guidance and updates to both Safety and Operations teams in plain language.

Responsibilities:
Determine applicable regulations and maintain a current register (FMCSA, PHMSA, CSA; NSC/TDG, provincial/territorial requirements) and translate them into clear procedures and training. Monitor performance using government reports/profiles; challenge inaccurate data promptly (e.g., DataQs) and drive corrective actions with Operations and Maintenance. Own audits end?to?end: plan/perform internal audits and prep for regulator/customer reviews across HOS, DQ, licensing/medicals, drug & alcohol, hazardous materials/TDG, maintenance?related requirements, roadside inspections; track findings and corrective actions to closure. Lead the team: supervise the HOS Specialist (including local driver Lytx coaching in Calgary) and 3 Administrative Contractors handling recordkeeping, document control, submissions, and retention; set weekly priorities and QA their work. HOS/ELD excellence: manage unassigned driving, edits/annotations, exemptions, and coaching/ride?along with Safety Execution; provide plain?language tips, tools, and quick guides for drivers and supervisors. Data & systems: steward compliance software and document systems; ensure data quality, retention, and audit trails; build simple dashboards (HOS, DQ, D&A, roadside trends) for leaders and terminals. Safety integration: support Investigation & Learning on fact?finding and data accuracy; implement recommended controls that impact compliance; align improvement plans with Safety Execution. Manage Third Party Compliance Vendor expectations: ensure expectations are met. This position will be based in Edmonton, Alberta, with minimal travel requirements.



Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Transportation, Logistics, Engineering or related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in transportation safety and compliance, including 2+ years of hands-on leadership in compliance management within trucking, tank operations, or similar regulated environments. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance is translated into effective, practical applications across shop, terminal, and over-the-road operations. Professional certification such as Certified DOT Compliance Manager (CDM), Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP), or Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Inspector Certification is an asset.
