The incumbent is responsible for developing, managing and implementing the administrative services
to support Community Services programs and services. This includes program registration,
recreation software administration, facility and park permitting (including facility, arena, parks and
sports field bookings), and management of department lease agreements and partnerships. An important component of this role is developing, managing and implementing marketing and
communication initiatives for City parks, facilities, recreation and cultural events, programs and
services. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams for departmental projects and initiatives such as, service delivery reviews, best practices and operational policies and procedures. Successful applicants will possess the following:
  • Post secondary university degree in recreation, community development or a related discipline.
  • Five years progressively more responsible experience in the delivery of community based
administrative services in a municipal environment, to include at least three at a supervisory level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislation and regulations applicable to recreation programs,
events and facility management and current best practices.
  • Extensive and comprehensive knowledge in recreation services delivery, program development
including, creation programs, events and facility management, and community development.
  • Must have well developed interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and
verbal) in English with the ability to edit correspondence, reports, proposals, plans, grant
applications, promotional material, and contracts.
  • Must have well developed leadership, planning, organizational and public relations/customer
service skills to establish and maintain effective business relationships with all levels of
employees, public, community group representatives and public officials.
  • Ability to work with multiple priorities in an active environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise effective Revenue Management.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and Windows based software applications.
  • Must hold current Standard First Aid, Basic Rescuer CPR-C and Auto External Defibrillator (AED)
certifications.
  • Must be able and willing to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as
required and respond to after work emergencies.
  • Must have a personal vehicle for use in the performance of duties and possess a valid Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d
Ontario Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence. A clean driving record is preferred.
  • Must be prepared to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment.
Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, and an annual salary
range starting at $127,076.25 (based on a 35 hour work week).
