Department Overview

The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand.

Job Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications or agency environment.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written/verbal skills, passion for storytelling and connecting dots.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative communications strategies to effectively drive business objectives, with experience managing projects and/or editorial calendars and using data and analytics to track results.
  • Strong track record in both proactive and reactive media relations. Experience working with journalists and publications focused on innovation and transformation.
  • Proven experience providing communications counsel and issues management to business partners and senior executives managing complex corporate issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines; self-starter highly motivated to deliver results and ability to work independently.
  • Very strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact with individuals and groups across all organizational levels.
  • Strong experience in full Microsoft Suite, as well as creative/design skills an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent preferred.

We\'re looking for an experienced professional communicator to plan, develop and deliver engaging content for both internal and external audiences. You\'ll play a key role as part of the communications team that is telling TD\'s transformation, enablement and customer experience (TECE) story - supporting communications and thought leadership for the office of the Senior Executive Vice President and TECE lines of business, driving outcomes that celebrate our colleagues and their achievements, advocate for our customers, and support business objectives.

The successful candidate will:
  • Work closely with CAPA colleagues, senior leaders and business partners to develop and drive strategic communications plans to help bring TD\'s Transformation, Enablement and Customer Experience (TECE) story to life.
  • Produce and deliver compelling internal and external stories that will drive engagement through new and always-on storytelling and engagement strategies (internal and external), including paid, earned and owned channels.
  • Develop communications collateral in a variety of mediums (e.g. videos, social media posts, media releases, FAQs, briefing documents, emails, etc.) in multiple voices intended for key target audiences and lead senior leader content for key TECE meetings and channels to support a strong colleague experience, including quarterly newsletter, executive meetings, town halls, and signature events.
  • Bring to life thought leadership plans (earned, owned, social) for TECE leaders working closely with CAPA\'s Digital Content Team, to produce an always on approach and earned opportunities to drive share of voice around TD\'s employer, innovation and customer brand.
  • Leverage extensive media relations experience and relationships to drive proactive external opportunities, capitalize on emerging trends and capture share of voice.
  • Identify and manage corporate reputation issues and provide strategic counsel and direction to senior leaders and business partners. Act as a media spokesperson as required.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of communications to increase value and bring forward creative solutions including setting up quarterly/annual reporting and metrics.
  • Develop strong relationships with key business partners across TECE to ensure alignment with TECE strategy and messaging.
  • Ongoing support of the communications and promotion of Diversity & Inclusion events within TECE, including Women at TD with CAPA colleagues as required.
