Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, this position will lead development and execution of strategic corporate

communication initiatives across internal and external channels. Responsible for overseeing Manitoba Hydro's communications

strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business priorities. Also manages the corporate communications function,

providing oversight and guidance to the Strategy and Content, Communications Planning and Strategy, and Community Investment

teams.



Work closely with managers of Marketing Services and Stakeholder Relations to maximize impact of strategic communications

initiatives. Work with internal workgroups enterprise-wide to ensure effective communication, both internally and externally, ensuring

alignment with corporate objectives, division and business units business plans. Work closely with Director, Corporate

Communications & Marketing and Vice-President External & Indigenous Relations and Communications, as required, on

development of other corporate initiatives, critical messaging, and divisional business and communications planning.


Responsibilities:


Build enterprise communication strategies across multiple platforms to grow and protect Manitoba Hydro's reputation with

strong communication insights and plans. Work closely and collaboratively with both the Director of Corporate

Communications & Marketing, the manager of Marketing Services and the Media Relations Officer to develop and coordinate

external messaging on identified themes, emergent issues or crisis responses.
Provide strategic counsel and serve as trusted corporate communications expert to the Director, other senior managers and

directors, and -- when required -- the Executive Leadership Team.
Lead crisis communication strategies for the enterprise, including managing sensitive issues, media inquiries, and reputational

risks. Support senior leadership in navigating high-profile issues, providing issues management, key messaging, and crisis

communications for the organization.
Develop key messages and implement strategic communication plans that support organizational priorities and internal

stakeholder initiatives; produce high-value material on behalf of the division and represent the corporation as required at

public meetings as well as responding to public inquiries on various corporate issues.
Work closely with Marketing Services, Stakeholder Relations and Media Relations to ensure a collaborative and overall

coordinated approach to all communications, including ensuring materials are consistent with brand narrative and reflects

perspectives of employees, customers, key interested parties as required.
Responsible for updating of the Corporate Communications Crisis Communications Plan in conjunction with the Media

Relations Officer and Director, Corporate Communications and Marketing.
Contribute to the development of the yearly divisional business plan, to guide both internal and external communications,

under the direction of the Director, Corporate Communications and Marketing.
Engage regularly with the Manager-- Marketing Services and Manager -- Stakeholder Relations to ensure smooth production

of all required collateral materials and maintain coordination of messaging across various internal departments.
Represent the corporation, division, and corporate group on various internal and external committees and teams as required.

This can include functioning as a media spokesperson, where appropriate.

and alignment with strategic goals. Assist with implementation of Corporate Communications and Marketing succession plan

and provide opportunities for mentorship, guidance and training of junior staff on an ongoing basis.


Oversee the Community Investment function, including development and delivery of public safety and education

programming, and management of strategic sponsorship partnerships with community organizations to support Manitoba

Hydro's corporate social responsibility objectives.

Qualifications:


Diploma in Creative Communications and a minimum of ten years' progressive communications and leadership experience in

a corporate or crown environment;

OR
Degree in Communications from a recognized institution plus a minimum of nine years of progressive communications and

leadership experience in a corporate or crown environment;

OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in successfully developing and executing strategic and tactical communication plans. Proven experience in crisis communications and reputation management. Demonstrable experience in drafting a wide variety of communications pieces, including communications plans, speaking


points, letters, web and brochure copy, and other materials.

Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends and after hours as required. Occasional

travel and standby duty may also be required in this position.

Possess a Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Salary Range



Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $60.99-$83.57 Hourly,

$116,866.62-$160,132.70 Annually.
