As part of the Commercial Solutions team, the Commercial and Business Development team will play a key role in supporting connecting customers and growing the natural gas systems. The work is exciting, fast paced, and collaborative. It will require imagination and a willingness to take risks and execute on the vision to bring the right solutions at the right time for customers.The Commercial and Business Development Manager is responsible for leading ATCO Energy System\'s regulated natural gas divisions\' business development, commercial contracting and marketing functions in securing new customers and driving regulated growth opportunities. This dynamic individual will guide a team focused on delivering customer experience solutions and generating offerings to commercial/industrial gas consumers and natural gas producers. This leader will also strategically manage the commercial contracts with upstream pipeline suppliers to foster ATCO and Alberta\'s growth potential.Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel commercial structures, opportunities, and product designs to reduce potential barriers for customers accessing natural gas transportation.
  • Lead a team to proactively find opportunities and engage parties in the early development of new gas service connections.
  • Leveraging market and forecast analysis, lead business development efforts and apply commercial contracting strategies with upstream natural gas suppliers to match the growing demand for natural gas.
  • Assist and lead engagements with key economic development stakeholders across Alberta to advance their investment attraction efforts.
  • Lead collaboration with internal stakeholders in the development of investment policies.
  • Promote and administer company services and products to be proactive in managing customers\' requirements and meeting service expectations.
  • Identify emerging technologies and competitive threats or service offerings that may impact ATCO\'s abilities to meet customer needs.
  • Develop the Commercial Accounts team members in setting objectives in alignment with the business plan; measure results, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance measurement reviews.
  • Effectively lead and coach team members to facilitate teamwork in driving for delivery of customer satisfaction and helping with conflict management issues that may arise.
  • Assist in the management of ATCO\'s customer data and the development of its CRM tools.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Commerce, Business Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience appropriate for this position.
  • A professional designation or advanced degree (MBA, CFA) is an asset.
  • 10 plus years of related experience in commercial or business development roles.
  • Experience with ATCO\'s preferred CRM - Salesforce - and data manipulation is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of utility rate design and its application is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the natural gas industry framework is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of account management and business development techniques.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Skilled in business writing and business case development.
  • Strong technical aptitude, analytical ability, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Class 5 Operator\'s License. Out-of-town travel (approximately 10% of time and primarily within Alberta).
