Job Description

As Manager, Catalogue, Specification and Bill of Materials, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization, maintenance, and integrity of engineering catalogues, technical specifications, and bill of materials for materials and equipment used in new builds and major vessel conversions. More specifically, you will:


Develop, organize, and maintain a material catalogue integrated with computer-aided design (CAD) tools. Select appropriate materials based on company strategies (facility, procurement, etc.) and project specifications. Ensure the catalogue is up to date and compliant with industry standards or technical specifications from suppliers. Implement and manage version control and update protocols for the catalogue. Develop and update technical specifications for materials, systems, and components used in ship design and construction. Ensure compliance with international maritime standards (IMO, SOLAS, ABS, etc.) and project-specific requirements. Collaborate with engineering teams to define requirements for new parts and systems, aligning with safety regulations. Maintain accessible technical specifications for stakeholders, communicating revisions effectively. Create and maintain accurate bills of materials from concept design through to production. Work with engineering and design teams to reflect required materials and quantities for each project phase. Coordinate with the procurement team for efficient sourcing and timely component availability. Apply change management procedures to update bills of materials as project designs evolve. Coordinate with procurement, production, and engineering for seamless material and specification information flow. Collaborate with quality control and safety teams to meet regulatory and safety standards. Assist project managers with material forecasts and technical clarifications for supply chains. Verify the accuracy and completeness of catalogue entries. Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with company standards. Coordinate with engineering and design teams to address any discrepancies or updates needed. Provide support to engineering and design teams on material catalogue usage and tool selection. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for new users. Address user feedback and implement improvements to enhance user experience. Generate regular reports on catalogue usage, material consumption, and other metrics. Maintain detailed documentation of catalogue-related processes and procedures. Regularly review and update catalogue management processes to improve data accuracy and overall efficiency. Stay informed on industry trends and new technologies that could enhance material management processes at the shipyard.

Qualifications




Minimum of seven years in a CAD environment. College degree in a related field of study. Good knowledge on shipbuilding processes. Ability to work in a confident, self-direct manner while prioritizing a large volume of work. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. Familiarity with vessel systems. Experience working with AVEVA Marine Engineering ERM is an asset. Experience working with AutoCAD is an asset. Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government's Contract Security Program.
