About the job:



Kent is looking for a Telecom Engineer


To set up telecommunications infrastructure such as fibre optics, telephone lines and electronic switching systems. Repairing phone lines. Installing underground wiring. Communicating with customers and troubleshooting any problems they might be facing.


Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:



Assist and contribute to the project to meet its safety targets and advise safety improvements Assist the team senior engineer and leader and be a team leader, manage, and add value to the assigned project Coordination/Communication with other disciplines, Contractor and Client Assist and support project senior engineer, leads, managers and directors to manage all aspects of projects from design to implementation and handover Review Contractor's deliverables as required and ensure all Contractor's engineering and design work performed meets contractual obligations, quality, cost and schedule requirements Ensure all Contractor's design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner Ensure all Contractor's design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the Client or to agreed industry standards If required, perform designing/engineering work and produce deliverables as part of the team Coordinate with the project team internally and with other functions, as well as with clients, as required, to develop/finalise design specifications to meet their project needs with the ability to interpret Client specifications Consult Quality Assurance with any quality issues, ensuring compliance with ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures Identifying issues and problems, developing appropriate solutions in conjunction with the senior and lead engineers, advising Client if necessary, and asking for assistance when required If required, assist, and support and help in developing junior personnel within the team If required, provide support during fabrication, site construction, and commissioning activities Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract by raising technical queries with projects / client Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Telecom Engineering Ability to analyse customer requirement, respond to technical queries, review concept engineering, FEED and detailed engineering deliverables for telecom systems conforming to local regulations, project specification and international codes and standards Assist the senior and lead engineers in reviewing the design and in producing engineering deliverables for IT/Telecommunication systems like Data Networks (LAN/WAN/WLAN), Telephone / PABX System, Radio System (TETRA / UHF / VHF), Microwave Transmission System, VSAT, Telecommunication Supervisory System (TSS), Entertainment System, FTTH, Outside Plant (OSP) Cabling System, Structured Cabling System (SCS) and Meteorological systems Adequately experienced in reviewing and producing design and engineering deliverables for Security Systems like CCTV System, Access Control System, Perimeter Intrusion Detection System, Radar System and Long-Range Surveillance Systems Assist the senior and lead engineers in the review of Engineering documentation including System Specification, datasheets, study reports, design calculations (power consumption, heat dissipation, weight estimation, FO link budget etc) and bill of materials as per the client requirement Familiarity with production of Engineering drawings including block diagram, schematic diagram, equipment layout, dimensional mounting, and general arrangement drawings & wiring diagrams Assist the senior and lead engineers in reviewing and producing Telecoms systems studies such as PAGA coverage study, radio coverage study, CCTV coverage study, VSAT link calculation etc. Presenting the telecom systems design to the project senior and lead engineers and the customer, as assigned Review and contribute to drafting work for projects using AutoCAD...etc. Monitoring and reporting the professional man hours to the senior and lead engineers and assessing the progress and quality of work Assist the senior and lead engineers in performing Contractors and/or Vendors Technical Bid Evaluations as required in conjunction with the senior and lead engineers Support for installation, commissioning, integration, system testing and training Assist the project senior and lead engineers in the delivery of TSI/Telecoms Package Liaise with client as assigned on technical issues with the ability to interface and interaction for successful resolution of discipline related scope and technical comments Coordinate with other disciplines and contractors, as assigned, on systems interfaces Support Project Team to deliver the Project within a set time frame Undertake design analyses and calculations as assigned and required Managing own budgets and project resources and report to the senior and lead engineers Scheduling material purchases and deliveries in conjunction with the senior and lead engineers

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.



Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:



As minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering 7-11 years relevant experience Have worked for at least 5 years in similar positions for an international company Work in office and Site based environments Capable of using the appropriate software Excellent interpersonal and analytical attributes

Communication:



Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Able to effectively communicate technical issues to peers and line manager (written and verbal) and hold presentations to project senior and lead, as well as to Clients when required Capability of collating, verifying and handling information and producing/following instructions Adequate capability in using engineering knowledge and understanding to apply technical and practical skills Adequate knowledge and understanding of technical requirements in own field and level Adequate capability in design, development, self-checking and solving engineering problems Capability of analysing, integrating and interpreting results Capability of reviewing, controlling in own field and level Capable of demonstrating ownership of responsibility for work produced Communication and interpersonal skills to hold presentation and keep audience interested Professional commitment in following appropriate code of professional conduct, recognising obligations to society, the profession and the environment Capability of planning, implementing and controlling work in own field Capabilities in estimating and forecasting
