Your Opportunity




Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Manager, Career Development oversees the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of career education services that empower students to build career competencies, pursue experiential learning opportunities, and achieve meaningful career outcomes.


The Manager oversees the Career Development team and collaborates with internal departments, students and external partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality coaching, programming, and resources aligned with student goals and institutional priorities.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of student-focused career development programs and services that align with and support departmental and university goals. Promote and support the delivery of high-quality, student-centered advising, coaching, and programming. Support and deliver program presentations and participate in student and employer meetings, as required. Oversee career development services and projects related to student engagement, student outcomes and satisfaction, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budget requirements are met. Manage budget tracking and reporting to stay within overall budgets and meet departmental goals. Collaborate with internal departments, students, employers and community partners to support program development, student placements, and experiential learning initiatives. Track departmental performance metrics and financial data to prepare reports that facilitate data-driven decision-making and highlight achievements. Gather and assess feedback from team members, students, collaborating departments and data to identify opportunities for impactful improvements and process efficiencies. Oversee departmental communications and ensure consistent, professional representation to internal and external stakeholders Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight to the Careers and Experiences staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and evidence-informed practice. Oversee scheduling, workflow management, and compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. Manages issues related to student or partnership opportunities or challenges. Set clear expectations, delegate responsibilities, and support team accountability in achieving departmental goals. Ensure alignment of team activities with Huron's mission, vision, culture, values and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a related role, Demonstrated experience in adult learning and development, program design, project management, and evidence-informed career development practices, particularly in a post-secondary context. Strong understanding of job markets, occupational trends, career pathways, and graduate education requirements relevant to student's career aspirations. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries with professionalism, diplomacy, and tact. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to represent Huron effectively in all interactions. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience building and motivating teams to achieve collective goals. Strong analytical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills; able to work collaboratively to identify solutions and address underlying issues. Excellent organizational and time management abilities that support the management of multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated and committed to identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitivity, creativity, innovation, and cultural understanding.

Compensation:




This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary commensurate with experience: $80,000 - $87,000
