Requisition ID: 203596Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Manager, Business Unit Controls will be reporting to the Director, Program Management-Internal Controls, this position will support Internal Controls with the Canadian Banking Governance Operating Model. This includes the planning and execution of controls, programs, and initiatives aligned with the principles outlined in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The incumbent will be a subject matter expert for controls, compliance, and regulatory requirements. This includes operational activities, reporting, projects, processes, and product initiatives.Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Delivers on end-to-end established processes, program life cycles and objectives (e.g. execution manages the data requirements, develops recommendations, communications, etc.)
  • Responsible for activities in support of enhancing the controls, processes, and reporting for disclosures, express consent, cancellation rights, and redress for the Canadian Bank.
  • Exercises judgement and proposes proper methods to deliver on assignments requiring analysis of identifiable factors in quality control (e.g., regulatory reporting, program design, processes, risk mitigation, compliance, etc.)
  • Provides insights and facilitates idea generation and problem definition (e.g. regulatory, controls and compliance activities, time sensitive activities/scenarios, manages ongoing projects, etc.)
  • Integrates organizational understanding and knowledge of products, services, professional methods, and operating standards to manage results
  • Solves diverse problems where analysis requires filtering multiple sources of information and evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Prepares detailed presentations based on comprehensive research and analysis and present in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of the competitive legislative/regulatory landscape, emerging trends, and best practices.
  • Understands how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, controls, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We\'d love to work with you if you have:
  • Proven ability to understand regulatory, legal and risk concepts and convert them into business requirements.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to effectively organize a process with high visibility and multiple deliverables with specific and time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of the Risk Culture & Appetite, Three Lines of Defence Model, and Canadian financial services including government and regulatory issues.
  • 3-5 years proven success in financial services industry working within regulatory frameworks is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (French language skills would be an asset)
  • Post-Secondary Education
