Position summary:



Reporting to the Chief Membership Officer, the Manager, Business Practices oversees GVR's regulatory framework governing professional conduct, ethics, and commission dispute resolution and provides leadership to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of regulatory processes. This role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, including the Personal Information Protection Act, and serves as a key resource for members and the public on industry practices.?

This role also serves as a key internal reviewer of contracts, vendor agreements, and statements of work related to Business Practices, professional conduct, arbitration, investigations, and supporting technologies, providing a second line of review prior to escalation to external legal counsel.

Key responsibilities:



Regulatory Enforcement & Professional Standards



Ensuring consistent application of fair, effective, and timely regulatory processes Monitoring trends impacting regulatory matters and contributing to strategic initiatives Ensure Regulatory Enforcement & Professional Standards.

Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Oversight



Oversight and Management of Arbitration process for commission disputes, including inter-board arbitrations. Provide strategic support for Arbitrations.

Governance Framework Management



Coordinate amendments to the Board's constitution, by-laws, and regulations.?

Privacy & Legislative Compliance



Ensure organizational compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Acting as Chief Privacy Officer.

Committee Enablement & Strategic Advisory



Provide strategic support to standing committees, (such as Professional Conduct Appeal Committee and PCC Hearings.) Lead the evolution and modernization of professional conduct, arbitration, and appeal processes, informed by benchmarking, data, and emerging best practices.

Legal and Stakeholder Liaison



Liaise with legal counsel and stakeholders to uphold governance standards. Maintaining relationships with external agencies and partners. Conduct first-pass review of contracts, service agreements, and vendor engagements related to Business Practices, escalating to external counsel where legal risk, complexity, or precedent warrants.

Contractor & Vendor Review



Provide internal risk, compliance, and value review of contracts and vendor engagements, reducing external legal dependency and improving turnaround and consistency.

Member Communication & Guidance



Communicate disciplinary outcomes and industry guidance to members.

Team Management



Leading, hiring, training, and supporting Business Practices staff.

Managing operational budgets.

Planning and coordinating special projects and presentations.

Responding to communications from lawyers, complainants, members and the public.

Provide coaching and learning opportunities that build future leaders.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:



Bachelor's degree in law, Public Administration, Business, or a related field (master's preferred) or

A Paralegal degree (or equivalent) supplemented by relevant experience Minimum of 3 years of experience.

Minimum 7-10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, governance, or professional standards.?

Strong knowledge of administrative law, dispute resolution, and privacy legislation.?

Experience reviewing contracts, service agreements, or vendor engagements in a regulatory, legal, or governance context.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience working with boards, committees, and legal counsel.?

Exceptional communication, leadership, and analytical skills.?

Certification in mediation, arbitration, or privacy compliance is an asset.

Demonstrated ability to handle and effectively prioritize a high volume of work and to work well independently and within a team.

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package (salary range

$120,000 to $140,000
