Purpose of Job:

The Manager, Analytics is a key contributer to the success of the Policy Adherence & Effectiveness (PAE) team of Global Risk Management (GRM).

The Manager, Analytics is required to have a high degree of analytical and technical knowledge and experience, combined with a strong understanding of retail and small businses credit risk policies/processes/lifecyle for Canada, Caribbean and/or Central America (C&CA). Technical knowledge and experience of SAS, Proc SQL with SAS, data repositories (for retail & small business portfolios in Canada and C&CA), and Microsoft Office products, especially Excel is required. Experience and knowledge of the various adjudication and document retention platforms used in Canada & C&CA is also an asset.

The Manager, Analytics is liable for the acquisition, organization and reporting of retail credit risk data to assist the credit review process of loans funded in Canada and C&CA, for both the retail and small business portfolios in the following ways:

  • Collection of account and application level data from multiple business lines and is expected to have knowledge and experience with writing SQL in order to fulfill this;
  • Assisting with updating the Risk Coverage Matrix;
  • Creation and maintance of dashboards used for analysis and monitoring;
  • Performing data analysis reviews to identify potential risk trends.
They will also work with the Senior Manager, Reporting & Process Design in developing a strategy and framework for managing and tracking the recommendations made via the credit reviews, identifying data integrity issues with findings discussed with management, and will assist in the creation and implementation of effective reporting systems.

In fulfilling the role, the Manager will interact closely with GRM, the various business lines in Canada and C&CA, technical development teams, data analytics teams, systems, operations, Audit, Bank regulators, and any other stakeholders as deemed necessary for accurate and meaningful reporting.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the generation and continued improvement of the regular reporting on credit originations, account management and collections strategies for all Retail and Small Business portfolios in Canada and C&CA.
  • Aid in the design, development, implementation, automation and maintenance of credit risk reports using various platforms and systems (e.g. SAS, Excel, Access, VBA, SQL Server.
  • Perform analysis of the credit portfolios relevant account and application level data results to identify data integrity issues, potential credit and/or operational risk trends, and policy and regulatory breaches. They should also stay up to date in advances in risk and performance analytics and apply those developments to the extent appropriate.
  • Investigate the credit issues and increased areas of risk identified in the analysis to find the significance, root cause, and provide effective recommendations to the relevant business lines on how to resolve the noted issue(s).
  • Formalize and review data report results to ensure accuracy, this will require to incumbent to stay abreast of upcoming changes to the data, tables and sources as well as credit policies, strategies and processes.
  • Ensure reporting development, production, and control processes are consistent with Bank\'s standard end user computer policies. Ensure reporting processes and definitions are adequately documented and periodically reviewed and updated, as required.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve/upgrade the current analytical data summary tools and reporting and then implement them.
  • Other data and analysis related duties and assignments as required.
Job Requirements:
  • A University degree in Business, Statistics or in an Information Technology related discipline is required.
  • SAS Certification
A minimum of three or more years of progressive, relevant and practical experience with world class organizations, preferably with financial institutions, in information management fields, and a strong track record of success in implementing effective information systems that assist and generate profitable and informed decision-making in the financial services sector.

The incumbent must have experience and knowledge of complex multi-dimensional computer design, programming, testing, problem solving and data analysis experience in order to work cross functionally within an environment of multiple data repositories, multi-systems, multi-architectures, and multi-business lines. Particularly, excellent knowledge and experience in the following areas are essential:
  • SAS, Proc SQL with SAS, Python is a plus
  • Office applications i.e. VBA, MS Excel, Macros, other MS Office products;
  • Database applications i.e. SQL server is a plus
  • Visualization Tools i.e. Tableau and PowerBI is a plus
  • Working with large amounts of data from a variety of different sources, relational databases;
  • Demonstrate innovation by devising novel solutions that will streamlines processes and improve effectiveness;
  • Have a strong sense of curiosity and is driven to seek a comprehensive understanding of a project and all related processes and policies;
  • Ability to think outside the box, and in a judicious manner in order to tie processes, policies, systems, and technical platforms as well as assess their application as translated into data;
  • Experience effectively working in a global matrix team, across a range of functions, seniority and geography;
  • Highly driven, Results focused and organized individual with strong communication, knowledge of project and process management disciplines and a positive \'can do\' attitude;
  • Strong time management, ability to multi-task, while being results oriented and team focused;
  • A broad range of cross-functional business, industry and functional knowledge is required to integrate technical solutions with business requirements.
