Within the Finance group, the Corporate Accounting team is responsible for producing reliable financial information for Laurentian Bank and its subsidiaries. The incumbent oversees the Accounts Payable team and ensures the efficiency of invoice and payment processing, as well as compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Through strong leadership, they actively contribute to continuous improvement, team engagement, and the reliability of financial statements.
Responsibilities
Supervise, guide, and motivate the accounts payable team to ensure efficient, thorough, and compliant processing of invoices and payments.
Proactively manage workload volume by distributing tasks equitably and adjusting priorities during peak periods.
Ensure process compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable accounting standards.
Collaborate closely with finance, procurement, tax teams, and business units to optimize expense processing workflows.
Implement and monitor performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure achievement of performance, quality, and timeliness objectives.
Actively contribute to the evolution of accounting systems and technological tools related to accounts payable.
Support internal and external audits in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Maintain and update sector policies and procedures, ensuring their communication and application within the team and among stakeholders.
Support team member development through training, coaching, and performance management.
Contribute to cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.
Qualifications
University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in team management
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in change management, continuous improvement, and process optimization (an asset)
Ability to work in a complex environment, manage priorities, and make sound decisions
Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations (an asset)
Bilingual (French/English), both spoken and written Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
