About the opportunity:
Two positions available.
As an Associate Manager, Accounts Payable at CLBC, you will lead the day-to-day operational leadership of the Accounts Payable function and will directly supervise a team of 10-14 staff. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of high-volume payments (approximately $1.7 billion annually) and recoveries, overseeing invoice verification, vendor account reconciliations, and supporting the effective resolution of payment-related issues. In this role, you will play a critical part in monitoring compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and contractual requirements, and contribute to a strong control environment by training staff and identifying operational risks.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensure compliance with financial policies, government regulations, and contractual agreements, implementing and maintaining robust internal controls
Lead the development and delivery of training for CLBC staff on a variety of Accounts Payable processes and procedures
Participate in departmental projects and lead the implementation of finance initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of Accounts Payable operations
Perform and review accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable standards and policies
Conduct month-end financial analysis, ensuring correct posting of all subledger transactions to the general ledger
Support the Manager AP with financial analytics, providing statistical insights and reporting on the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of AP processes
Prepare and maintain documentation of AP-related processes, workflows, and procedures to support consistency and compliance
Supervise, recruit, train, coach, and manage the performance of direct reports
Regularly engage direct reports in 1-on-1s with clear objectives and intended outcomes, and provide effective feedback
Offers guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
As part of the AP Leadership team, you will support and lead departmental process improvement initiatives, including automation, system enhancements, and standardization efforts. The role collaborates closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure service excellence, operational accuracy, and continuous improvement in AP systems and performance.
What you'll bring:
A diploma or bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in an Accounts Payable role
Minimum 3 years of experience in leading AP function/teams
Direct experience reviewing and analyzing multi-faceted policy and/or program/funding issues, assessing options, and developing related information reports
Experience in developing and managing project budgets and expenditures
Supervisory/leadership experience in a unionized environment would be an asset
Enrollment in the CPA program/ designation will be an asset.
Experience in a public sector organization is an asset
