Do you enjoy leading others?:As the Manager, Accounting, you are responsible for the oversight of the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. This responsibility includes ensuring the accuracy and completeness of CPSA\'s revenues and non-payroll expenses during budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and year-end financial reporting. You will summarize financial information and make recommendations to the leadership team for decision-making purposes. You will also provide direct supervision and performance management of a group of accounting team members.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounting oversight duties:
  • Review published month and quarter-end reporting packages, department and program area budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain CPSA\'s chart of accounts, review requirements for new accounts, sub-accounts and file numbering conventions.
  • Maintain CPSA\'s schedule of fees and implement in appropriate CPSA database.
  • Maintain financial expense policies.
  • Accounting reviews and reconciliations:
  • Monitor completion of month, quarter, and year-end close procedures by accounting team.
  • Review month and quarter-end working papers and journal entries including revenue and investment account reconciliations.
  • Prepare summary revenue and deferred revenue analysis, conduct regular revenue monitoring for detection of potential errors and corrective actions.
  • Prepare financial analysis to support program budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide back-up for the accounting team as required.
  • Management and supervision:
  • Provide leadership, coach, and support accounting team members; conduct performance check-ins and reviews, performance management, etc.
  • Provide back-up for the Program Manager, Finance Transformation as needed.
  • Reporting and presentations:
  • Consolidate financial information and prepare briefing notes for leadership reporting.
  • Assist Director with preparation of FAC presentation materials.
  • Prepare financial support for grant requests and reporting, manage reporting deliverables with department managers.
  • Manage external audit process:
  • Review and provide guidance for drafting year-end audited financial statements.
  • Coordinate year-end financial statement audit with external auditor and review working papers prior to submission.

  • Specialized professional skills typically obtained through a Bachelor\'s degree plus professional certificate in area of specialty or equivalent.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
Experience:
  • Requirement for 5 to 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience leading a small team.
Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient with MS Excel.
  • Positive team attitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Solver Cloud is considered an asset.
SALARY
