The Maintenance/Service Technician performs a variety of duties associated with the installation, operation and advanced maintenance of gas system facilities including the delivery of customer services in accordance with standards, specifications and accepted industry practices. This job description is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, required skills or related duties which may be assigned or requested.Position DetailsUnion - This position is permanent full time.Core ResponsibilitiesOperation/MaintenancePerform maintenance, trouble shooting, operation and repair of gas system facilities and associated equipment.Monitor and trouble shoot odorant and cathodic protection systems, analyze and maintain associated records.Locate, inspect, install and maintain gas distribution systems involving planned work and emergency response.As needed assess, plan and organize work which may involve arranging for Construction Crews and/or additional resources, delegating work assignments and ensuring work is carried out effectively.Inspect the work of contractors/excavators to ensure the integrity of Corporate facilities and compliance with specifications and standards.Read and interpret facility maps and drawings as required for work assignments and as needed provide information for updating.Inspect and perform maintenance duties on Corporate facilities, offices, sites, vehicles and equipment.Install main and service extensions involving a variety of work such as staking, operating trenching and other equipment, tapping mains, laying pipe, etc.Perform administrative duties including ordering supplies, preparing, updating and maintaining accurate Corporate and/or Area programs, records, manuals, systems (such as Advantex and map viewer, etc.) and files.As the qualified incumbent, oversee the work of other employees/contractors as assigned, this includes taking action if required for non-compliance.Customer ServicePerform customer services, including:service, activate and re-activate gas appliances and equipment.handle customer inquiries, complaints, trouble calls and emergency situations providing or recommending corrective measures.build, install and remove meters and regulators, perform piping modifications, read meters, locate and repair gas leaks, connect and disconnect services.gather and record data on service installations and distribution layouts.prepare applications and coordinate the delivery for service and main extensions, alterations and retirements.perform leak detection procedures on Corporate and customer gas lines.provide rate and account information to customers.collect delinquent accounts.Promote and maintain good public relations, by:promoting the safe and efficient use of natural gas.acting as the Corporations representative at public and internal meetings.Support and participate in the development, marketing, promotion and delivery of Corporate and Area initiatives.Qualified applicants will possessGrade 12 or equivalent.Journeyperson Plumbing Certificate.Gas fitter's license (general or domestic).Valid Class 5 driver's license.Three (3 years\' experience in the natural gas industry associated with the installation, operation, and maintenance of gas system facilities.Non-Optional RequirementsMaintenance Technician Certificate of Qualification.Applicable mandatory Occupational Health & Safety training, certifications and other Corporately required training and certification.Additional InformationDepending on location, standby is routinely scheduled or occasional.Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required.This job requires significant travel time.This job requires extended work hours.This job is safety sensitive, and as such, is subject to the provisions of the Drug and Alcohol Policy (Pre-Employment or Pre-Placement for Safety Sensitive Positions).Application InstructionsPlease apply online with your cover letter and resume outlining your qualifications.For more information on this position, please contact Human Resources at 306-777-9091.Closing DateJuly 2, 2024Hourly Rate Range$36.63 ($5,942.12) - $43.57 ($7,067.93)#LI-POST
