To that end, we depend on the skills and compassionate caring of individuals in a variety of disciplines including our Maintenance Team.
As part of our Maintenance Team, the ability to respond to service requests both verbally and written from our Maintenance Work Order System in an efficient and timely manner is critical.
Successful candidates must have 1-3 years previous experience working in a maintenance position where the tasks performed required a basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
Ability to read and communicate well in English verbally and written is a requirement.
As a successful candidate, your past experience reflects that you are committed to customer service and have a strong attention to detail. You can work efficiently as part of a team and/or independently.. Previous experience working in a long-term care facility will be considered an asset. Suitable candidates must be available to work various shifts including
weekdays and weekends and take on call shifts
on a rotating basis as needed.
These positions are unionized positions under our CUPE Collective Agreement.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 education or equivalent
Previous Maintenance experience (1-3 years)
Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing and electrical
Ability to work independently within the established guidelines
Power Engineer Class 5 license is considered an asset
Valid class 5 driver license and access to a vehicle will be considered an asset
Previous experience in a healthcare environment will be considered an asset
Major Responsibilities:
Perform and complete all maintenance service requests via the Maintenance system
Perform preventive maintenance, both outlined and assigned
Assist/complete grounds work as required
Assist/complete snow clearing, sanding as required
Assist/complete painting and patching as needed
Perform both shipping and receiving duties
Remove garbage in receiving area and place in waste bins outside in the morning and afternoon
Report any malfunctions or mechanical abnormalities to the maintenance coordinator
Empty garbage bins in the garden area during summer time
Any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager
