Description: This position reports directly to the Building Services Supervisor and is responsible for building maintenance & repairs in City of Fredericton buildings and facilities. The incumbent will use a variety of building trade tools and equipment and will interact with City departments aiding when required. The incumbent will complete work orders as issued by the Building Services Division Position Specifications:
- Familiarity with all aspects of Commercial construction practices.
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to facilitate construction projects;
- Interpretation of the National Building Code of Canada;
- Troubleshoot, create a repair plan, source material and carry out repair in a safe economical manner;
- Work independently and or in a crew environment;
- Schedule and coordinate other trades people on projects (plumbers, electricians, contractors, etc)
- Maintain accurate project records including time, costs, etc.
- Position will be required to respond to after hour incidents when needed.
- Operate power equipment lifts including scissor/zoom booms.
- Work with customers and users of City owned buildings to complete maintenance and construction work.
- Other duties as required within the Building Services Division such as cleaning, moving, general labour, etc.
- Valid Class V NB drivers license;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees (team player) and the public;
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions;
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved in and the safety precautions necessary in the area of work assignments.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and materials used.
- Knowledge of other trades work including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in commercial crack filling and painting
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills, verbal/written.
- Applicant will require a valid class 5 license
- Applicant will be required to provide a criminal record check prior to hire.
