Duties

Provides general maintenance, repair and labour services to support grounds, roads and facilities maintenance; construction and installations; and other general maintenance and repair requirements for the Parks Canada Agency. Positions to be filled: 4

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
A High School diploma or equivalent or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Degree equivalency Essential Experience
Recent experience that would normally be acquired over a six-month period in general labouring tasks which would relate to one or more of: trail construction and maintenance; grounds keeping and landscaping activities; equipment operations; or the trades groups (plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical).

English essential Information on language requirements
Essential Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of the operation of various gas and diesel fuel equipment or machinery;
  • Knowledge of the safety requirements of the various equipment and machinery used at the site;
  • Knowledge of the maintenance and construction tasks required for trails and grounds.

Essential Abilities:
  • Ability to correctly use and maintain a variety of tools and/or equipment;
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally;
  • Ability to deal effectively with the fundamental elements of a problem situation;
  • Ability to work in a team or group setting.

  • Dependability;
  • Judgement;
  • Motivation.

  • Travel by small boat to the work site;
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, heavy lifting, climbing, hiking, working outdoors in adverse weather conditions;
  • Wearing of appropriate uniforms, safety clothing and equipment.

Conditions of employment

  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver\'s license OR personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid Driver\'s license within the limits of the Treasury Board Policy
