Your Opportunity:

Here is your opportunity to work with the FM&E group at ACH. Under general supervision, performs a wide range of skilled building architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components maintenance and repair work in accordance with set guidelines and standards. Performs building architectural systems, maintenance repairs, construction and renovations duties including constructing simple wooden articles or structures such as partitions, ramps, boxes, stands, bulletin boards and counters; repairs furniture, doors, windows and flooring (tiles, linoleum, carpet, etc.); repairs walls (tiled, plastered, etc.) and surfaces; repairs ceilings and ceiling tiles systems. Performs mechanical maintenance duties on various types of hospital equipment; disassembles, repairs, lubricates, replaces parts and re-assembles compressors, fans, pumps, appliances and motors or gear systems; adjusts, lubricates and repairs wheelchairs, stretchers, beds and carts. May be responsible for grounds maintenance, grass cutting, snow removal and housekeeping duties in work areas. Assists tradesmen and other maintenance staff in various building and grounds maintenance installation or repair projects; performs sub-journeyman level tasks related to the applicable trade and some technical duties under close supervision of the journeyman. Requisitions supplies; records and logs activities; performs housekeeping in work area. Performs other related duties as required.

Description:

As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver\'s licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary. Additional Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 High School diploma supplemented by a minimum two-month technical training program (ie: 5th Class Power Engineer certificate) Elementary technical/professional experience (i.e. 1-3 years) required. Must be able to communicate clearly in English; verbally and in writing. Reports any unsafe conditions which may cause injury and damage to equipment to their supervisor. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Valid Class 5 driver\'s license required. Lifting: Regular lifting of up to 20 kg. Use proper lifting techniques and equipment. Pushing/Pulling: Moderate pushing/pulling of up to 150 kg. Moving equipment or performing work on systems. Kneeling: Regular frequency. Kneeling required to access equipment for repair, sometimes in awkward positions. Crouching: Regular frequency. To gain access to equipment to carry out repairs. Standing: Regular frequency. Required to gain access to equipment to carry out repairs. Walking: Regular frequency. Due to the large area of the facility and number of repair calls that must be responded to daily, there is a requirement for regular walking. Crawling: Moderate frequency. Sometimes required to access equipment. Reaching: Above shoulder - Regular frequency. Working on ladders to gain access to difficult to reach areas to complete repairs. Below shoulder - Regular frequency. To complete work on equipment. Use of computer: Moderate frequency. To access technical data related to maintenance and performance. Preferred Qualifications:
