JOB SUMMARY:



The

Maintenance Worker I

is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to Community Living Toronto's properties, ensuring all health and safety hazards are addressed. Repairs identified deficiencies and makes improvements. Performs preventative and regular maintenance tasks, completes facility repairs and minor renovations based on identified needs, and maintains interior/exterior areas of all properties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



General Maintenance -



Performs carpentry work including drywall repairs, plastering, painting, changing locks and doors, repairing floors and replacing tiles, repairing patios and fences, and replacing windows and screens. Undertakes general plumbing including repairing and replacing tap washers, repairing and replacing faucets, and unclogging drains. Performs minor electrical installations and basic electrical work, repairing and replacing light switches, changing light fixtures, and servicing and making minor repairs to appliances such as washers, dryers, stoves, fridges and air conditioners. Inspects buildings and facilities to identify needed services and repairs. Responds to emergencies (e.g., floods, broken/clogged pipes/drains, power failures, etc.). Maintains a clean and orderly work area free of hazards and ensures the timely completion of all maintenance-related services. Transports various tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring the availability of materials required at job site. Follows effective and appropriate Health and Safety practices and ensures all jobs are completed in a timely manner.

Administrative -



Submits all materials receipts. Maintains accurate computer records of all work completed and jobs for future development.

QUALIFICATIONS:



High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in general building maintenance and repair. Must have a valid Ontario Driver's license, a good driving record, and able to drive a van. Minimum 1 - 2 years of previous relevant experience performing carpentry, plumbing, dry walling, painting, and electrical repairs. Knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, woodworking, painting, and cement repair. Mechanical/electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Solid knowledge of construction and renovations, basic tools, and equipment. Strong understanding of and ability to perform daily building maintenance routines. Demonstrated ability to make decisions, prioritize jobs, and fix issues that could be problematic. Basic computer knowledge.
