Job Summary: Responsible for maintenance of all building equipment and the preventative maintenance program. The duties and functions of the maintenance Person are also interchangeable with this position and may be carried out by the Maintenance Person Painter/Carpenter. Responsible to: Support Services Manager Responsible for: Maintenance of the building Service equipment, Maintaining the surrounding grounds, preventative maintenance program, and certain fire emergency procedures. Qualifications: 1. Minimum of Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent. 2. General knowledge and/or practical experience in all major trades. 3. Five years experience in general maintenance. 4. Ability to operate and maintain mechanical equipment. 5. Must hold a valid drivers licence. 6. All Employees are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with the Betel Home Policy Immunizations for Betel Home Employees. Duties: 1. Maintain, repair and regularly inspect all building equipment and fixtures. 2. Participate and assist the Housekeeping Supervisor in the planning and implementation of the preventative maintenance program. Prepare accurate records and reports for the program. 3. Assist the Fire Prevention Officer in formulating and implementing the fire plan and other emergency procedures. Assist with staff training, fire drills, etc. Be prepared to carry out fire duties as detailed for the maintenance department. 4. When required, be prepared to work with and assist the Maintenance Painter Carpenter in the performance of his duties and functions. 5. Carry out the duties of the Maintenance Painter Carpenter in his absence. 6. Pick up garbage from all areas. 7. Fill soft drink machine. 8. Assist housekeeping staff with regularly scheduled heavy cleaning such as rug cleaning, dietary range hood, etc. 9. Responsible for storage and delivery of supplies to all departments. 1. Functions: 1. Demonstrates use of all equipment in a safe manner. 2. Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of resident safety principles and practices in all daily activities. 3. Supports an environment which avoids, prevents, and corrects all activities or actions which may results in adverse outcomes in the delivery of health care services. 4. Provides a safe environment by ensuring the adherence to Workplace Safety and Health regulations and policies and Infection Control guidelines. 5. Obeys all safety and health rules and follows recommended Safe Work Procedures. 6. Informs supervisor of any unsafe acts, work condition, occurrences, near misses, injuries or illnesses immediately. 7. Demonstrates a working knowledge of Workplace Hazard Materials Information Systems (\xe2\x80\x9cWHMIS\xe2\x80\x9d) and adheres to the procedures for handling and storing controlled substances as described in the Material Safety Data Sheets (\xe2\x80\x9cMSDS\xe2\x80\x9d). 8. Uses personal protective equipment as required. 9. Demonstrates understanding of role and responsibilities in fire prevention and disaster preparedness and participates in safety and health programs including the region\xe2\x80\x99s Fire, Disaster and Evacuation plan.
