About Our Opportunity

The Nursery production Worker is responsible for carrying out operational tasks required in the annual production of forest seedlings. Operational targets are determined yearly by the Nursery Superintendent in consultation with industry as well as government partners.

Primary Accountabilities


----------------------------



The yearly cycle includes seeding, thinning, transplanting, growing, and packaging forest seedlings. These tasks are critical in allowing the Nursery to achieve its production targets and produce high quality forest seedlings.


Qualifications and Experience


---------------------------------



Previous forest nursery or greenhouse experience would be considered an asset. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations; a valid NS Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent); a valid First Aid Certificate and WHMIS training are also assets. Knowledge of mechanical and machinery maintenance will be an asset as well as Class 3 driver's licence with air brakes.




We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.


Working Conditions


----------------------



You will be required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. You must occasionally lift and or/ move more than 50 pounds.




There is regular exposure to outdoor weather. Higher temperatures while working in the greenhouse and cold frames.

This is a CASUAL employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of December 12, 2025. The appointment status ('term', 'temporary' or 'casual') is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate and the overall duration of the position, in accordance with the collective agreement.

"Casual" work (less than 10 weeks duration) is non-bargaining unit status work and successful applicants will not be considered to have bargaining unit status.

$22.09 - $22.50 Bi-Weekly
