HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our Maintenance Team as a Maintenance Technician.

Summary



The Maintenance Technician contributes to HarbisonWalker International's overall business performance by ensuring the optimal operation and reliability of plant equipment. This role is responsible for analyzing equipment status, detecting component failures, and determining root causes to prevent future issues. The Maintenance Technician participates in equipment rebuilds, routine adjustments, and preventive maintenance to ensure all machinery at the plant operates efficiently and safely.


Additionally, this role maintains the spare parts inventory at appropriate levels to support uninterrupted operations. The ideal candidate must be able to read and interpret manuals, technical drawings, and schematics and possess a foundational knowledge of hydraulic systems for effective troubleshooting.



Responsibilities



Perform daily maintenance on plant equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation Conduct weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance inspections in accordance with plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Perform welding tasks, including mold repairs, equipment fixes, and anchor installations, as needed Repair, rebuild, and fabricate Cast Shop molds (including simple mold designs such as squares) Analyze equipment failures and perform troubleshooting to identify and correct root causes Manage and monitor spare parts inventory; promptly notify supervisor when parts need to be ordered to maintain adequate stock levels

Requirements

Requires high school diploma or G.E.D equivalent Strong computer skills and previous experience using on-line work order/preventive maintenance tracking system Demonstrable knowledge and skills for maintenance and repair of equipment, welding, mold fabrication and repair Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles preferred Understanding of basic safety/OSHA standards Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with coworkers, contractors and vendors The Maintenance Technician requires a strong track record of maintaining technical competency and three to five plus (3 - 5+) years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience.



Physical and Environmental Requirements

Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time reaching climbing/balancing; 2/3 of time standing, kneeling, crawling speaking/hearing; and less than 1/3 of time sitting, Lifting: Requires lifting to 100 pounds less than 1/3 of time. Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to focus. Environment: Requires 2/3 or more of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 working in high, precarious places, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and/or in extreme heat. * Noise: Requires exposure to very loud noise.
