Norstar prides itself in providing market-leading products that are exceptional on every level. To do this, we need an exceptional team! We are now seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team in the position of: Maintenance Technician.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Completing maintenance tasks outlined / assigned by the Plant Manager and/or CEO.

Receive and handle a wide variety of maintenance requests related to maintenance and repairs needed for the building, the grounds, equipment and tools and resolve issues in a timely manner to reduce unnecessary downtime

Troubleshoot and handle basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing matters

Lead and assist in all maintenance processes and programs for the organization. Create and update related SOPs and ensure implementation occurs.

Update and maintain maintenance and inventory records

Identify needs for new and replacement tools, research different products / brands and costs. Submit all order requests to Plant Manager for approval, and work with the purchaser to get items ordered.

Clear snow and cut grass in specified areas as required.

Follow all safe work, health and safety policies and regulations and ensure all tools / equipment are kept in safe working condition at all times

Assist with the Coordination of other facility or equipment projects with guidance from the Plant manager and assist outside trades / hired helpers as required.

The ideal and successful candidate for this position will:

Previous experience in a similar role

Be self-motivated and able to prioritize work tasks.

Mechanically inclined

Hands on experience / knowledge of hand and power tools.

Possess excellent time management skills, along with a high sense of urgency.

Have strong organizational skills and will be able to multitask and change "gears" quickly as required.

Work calmly under pressure and will be results-drive, taking ownership of their tasks

Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Computer skills/knowledge

Dependable and Reliable

Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to be a strategic planner/thinker

Have a high level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning

Able to stand, walk, bend, twist and complete other physical movement repetitively throughout an 8 hour shift and lift up to 50 lbs.

Steel toe work boots are required.

Note: A trade certification or education in a trade or professional designation would be a very strong benefit but it's not required. (Electrical or Mechanical). Experience fixing overhead cranes would be a strong asset as well.

Pay: $49,999.00-$62,000.00 per year

Norstar is located just outside of the town of Rosenort, MB which is about a 40 minutes drive south of Winnipeg. A successful candidate will be able and willing to make this commute. Are you legally entitled to work in Canada? Do you currently reside in Manitoba, Canada? Hours of work are Monday - Thursday 5:30 am - 4:30 pm, with a possibility of overtime, are you able to work this schedule?
