The Job

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible to work closely with our Apprentice and Journeyman Tradesmen to assist with installing or dismantling machinery and equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. This position will be trained and expected to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with production equipment.
What You'll Do:
Troubleshoot, Repair, Rebuild, and Routine Maintenance of various plant machinery and equipment, including power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Utilize the onsite Preventative Maintenance EAM program to complete assigned work, and enter new requests for repairs, parts, follow-up work, etc.
Assist Tradesmen in emergency/unscheduled repairs to equipment as necessary.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and other materials to determine appropriate work procedures.
Assist with shut down operations to dismantle or assemble machinery and equipment
Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists, jacks, squares, ruler, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
Use a lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to match the appropriate specifications.
Optimize equipment safety, efficiency, and reliability participating in continuous improvement projects and complete works according to PM schedules.
Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment, or processes in order to facilitate production. Report any faulty operations or defective material to a Supervisor as necessary.
Document work orders, preventative maintenance, and any other repairs made to equipment with accuracy.
Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.

About You:
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Industrial mechanical experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Pursuit of an Electrical or Millwright Apprenticeship is an asset.
Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
Able to work well in both a team and independently, and comfortable using computer/tablet
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Accurate and highly analytical.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
What to Expect:
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 hour shift, rotating 2 weeks 6am-2pm, 2 weeks 2pm-10pm, and 2 weeks 10pm-6am.
Environmental Conditions: Indoor/outdoor, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, dust, noise, working at heights
Physical Demands: Lifting, carrying up to 40lbs, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting, eye and hand coordination, confined spaces
