The Role



As a result of our robust growth, we are adding a Maintenance Techniaican to our team of professionals.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor,
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all industrial equipment and systems within the processing plant. This includes both preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure continuous and efficient operation. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as a commitment to maximizing yield, efficiency, quality, safety and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities, Expectations & Tasks

Preventative and Corrective Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all processing equipment, including filleting machines, conveyors, packaging systems, refrigeration units, and utility systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical). Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to diagnose and repair issues, minimizing production interruptions. Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs, rebuilds, and replacements of components such as motors, pumps, belts, bearings, and control systems. Installation & Fabrication: Assist with the installation of new machinery and equipment. Fabricate and modify parts as needed, often working with materials like stainless steel. Welding skills (TIG, MIG, and ARC) may be required. Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and ensure all work is completed in a safe and compliant manner. Conduct work in accordance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP) and company policies. Documentation & Inventory: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage using a computerized maintenance management system (MaintainX). Monitor the inventory of spare parts and supplies, informing Supervision and Maintenance Admin for placing orders as necessary. Collaboration: Work closely with production supervisors and other team members to coordinate maintenance tasks, limit downtime, and ensure a smooth workflow. Provide training as needed to the trainer and / or production staff on basic machine operation and safety procedures.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in a food or seafood processing facility. Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude. Experience with mechanical systems, VFDs, PLCs, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Knowledge of refrigeration systems is a plus. Education: A relevant trade certification or technical diploma (e.g., Industrial Mechanic, Millwright) is highly preferred. Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods, and work in a cold, wet, and noisy environment. The capacity to lift heavy items and move in tight spaces, climb ladders, and maintain a high level of physical activity on the job. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, proactive problem-solver, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. Ability to work within a flexible schedule, including on-call rotations and extended hours during peak production seasons. Tool Proficiency: Skillful use of both hand and power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, drills, and other specialized tools. Communication: Clear and effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and clients is crucial for updates, instructions, and teamwork. Attention to Detail: Essential for spotting minor problems in equipment and buildings that others might miss. Teamwork: Being a flexible and cooperative team player, willing to listen and collaborate on tasks. Time Management: Prioritizing tasks, working efficiently, and meeting deadlines.
