Working conditions:



Required travel between Metro Community Living's (MCL) Small Option Homes (SOH) and Independent Living Support (ILS) arrangements. Positively contribute to the lives of those living with disabilities. Indoor and outdoor maintenance responsibilities. Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs., frequent crouching, standing and moving.

YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO:



Is a recent graduate with a diploma or certificate in a relevant trade combined with apprenticeship experience who is looking to gain practical experience and training opportunities.

OR

Is an experienced tradesperson who is interested in making a broader impact in your community by directly supporting MCL in providing a professional service to individuals living with disabilities in their communities of choice.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:



Is knowledgeable and committed to workplace safety and is able to follow workplace health and safety rules. With active support and training, can work with a minimal level of supervision. Possesses a strong work ethic. Has effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Has effective administrative, time management, and organizational skills. Has proven experience as a handyman or in a related field. Can create efficiencies in their daily tasks. Has proficiency with using basic tools and relevant techniques related to this work. Can perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings interiors and exteriors Can address basic level plumbing, electrical and carpentry issues as they arise in MCL's SOH and ILS programs. Is able to make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems, and to liaise with tradespersons for major repairs. Is able to perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair. Is able to perform walk-through assessments and prepare cost estimates. Can provide an up to date criminal record/vulnerable sector check.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
