Job Description

Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities maintenance and possess a wide range of technical skills this includes conducting preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on machinery used in flexible packaging manufacturing -- such as flexographic printing presses, laminators, slitters, and bag-making equipment.

The technician supports the company's

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

initiative by participating in autonomous maintenance, equipment improvement projects, and root cause analysis to reduce downtime and optimize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).This role involves ensuring that all equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing exceptional service to our clients, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities :



1. Equipment Maintenance



Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, including but not limited to:

Flexographic printing presses

Laminators and slitters

Bag and pouch making equipment

Air compressors, chillers, dryers, and corona treaters.

Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Repair or replace faulty components (motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, drives). Maintain accurate maintenance records in the CMMS system.

2. Electrical and Controls Work



Diagnose and repair issues involving PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and motor control systems. Support automation and control upgrades (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, B&R systems). Ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards (ESA, CSA, OSHA).

3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance



Execute scheduled PMs and inspections to prevent breakdowns. Use vibration, thermal, or ultrasonic tools to detect developing issues. Provide input into PM schedule optimization and machine reliability analysis.

4. Continuous Improvement / TPM



Participate in TPM pillar activities (Focused Improvement, Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance). Collaborate with operators to identify chronic issues and implement countermeasures. Support kaizen events and 5S activities in maintenance and production areas. Contribute to OEE improvement and downtime reduction goals.

5. Safety & Compliance



Follow all plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and confined space requirements. Report and correct any unsafe conditions or equipment deficiencies. Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and food-contact packaging standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP)

Qualifications & Skills:

Valid Industrial Electrician License - 442A (a must) 3-5 years' experience in maintenance within a

flexible packaging

printing

environment. Hands-on experience with: Pneumatic and hydraulic systems Web-handling and tension control systems Servo drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs) PLC-controlled equipment and sensors Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various systems. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical documentation.
