About The Opportunity
Position Summary
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all equipment and facilities within the company. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role involves conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and performing repairs to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The Maintenance Specialist will also collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and implement preventive maintenance programs.
Essential Job FunctionsConduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and programming issues, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and increase efficiency.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or installations.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance in our EAM system, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory of spare parts.
Monitor and control inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed.
Train and mentor junior maintenance staff and Machine Operators on proper maintenance techniques and safety protocols.
Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to disassemble, repair, and troubleshoot plant machines
Ability to overhaul, rebuild, and troubleshoot plant machines
Ability to make simple parts or equipment and tools
Must have proper tools to perform assigned work duties
Ability to read, comprehend, and where necessary complete items including a blue print, electrical schematic, operating and maintenance manuals, work order, repair parts request, standard and metric tape measure, and other measuring equipment including a micrometer, a caliper, a scale, and a VOM (Volt/OHM Meter)
Machines, Tools, Instruments, Equipment and Materials Used:PLC and Drive Controllers
Equipment skills desired: knowledge of shrink wrap equipment, Cartoners, Weighing and counting equipment, balers, heat tunnels, printers, glue machines, conveyors, bundler, stretch wrappers
Education & ExperienceHigh School Degree or Equivalent and/or three or more years of experience in Maintenance
Electrical, mechanical and hydraulics knowledge required
Must have technical knowledge or maintenance tools and equipment
Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentPrimarily works in a production and/or warehouse setting
Ability to stand 6-8 hours
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. maximum
Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Frequent bending and lifting
