As a Maintenance Serviceperson, you will perform a wide variety of preventative maintenance and repair work on vehicles and equipment. Primary duties include:

Service and perform minor repairs to units such as: lubrication work, fluid and filter changes, tire changes, wheel torquing, fluid level checks, servicing batteries, replacing or adjusting belts, lights, windshield wipers, checking for and reporting abnormal conditions and assisting the mechanics as required. Steam clean parts or components of vehicles. Operate a mobile service unit and provide in-field services in certain locations. Operate vehicles and equipment used in performing the required work including a Merlo, forklift and shop sweeper. Ferry vehicles as required and pick up parts from stores or dealers. Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment and the work area.


Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalency (for example, GED [General Educational Development] or CAEC [Canadian Adult Education Certificate]) and at least 1 year of related experience is required. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit within 2 months of hire. Possession of a valid Alberta Class 3 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with Q endorsement will be an asset or can obtain within 3 months of hire. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in Heavy Truck, Heavy Equipment, or an Automotive trade. Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work independently in a shop setting. Ability to complete Audiometric testing.

Pre-employment Requirements

Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Working Conditions:

Heavy manual work requiring the operation of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. There is exposure to fumes, grease and battery acid, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures established within the work unit. Some work must be performed outdoors occasionally, or in tight spaces requiring physically demanding postures. Must have the ability to lift 20 kg (45 lbs.) daily.

Pre-employment Drug Test:

An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Days of Work: This position typically works Monday - Thursday 5:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
