Position Overview
Imperial Oil Resources N.W.T. Limited is seeking a skilled Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Specialist to support our Norman Wells operations. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing maintenance work plans and schedules to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of all maintenance activities across production facilities.
The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise, oilfield experience, and proficiency with SAP/Prometheus to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement within the maintenance function.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, plan, and schedule all maintenance work orders using SAP/Prometheus, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Create detailed work packages for contractor execution, including required materials, drawings, permits, and procedures.
Manage work order cost control, scope changes, and archiving documentation to maintain data accuracy and compliance.
Develop and maintain Standard Job Plans and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
Coordinate and load-level work schedules to optimize manpower, equipment, and resource utilization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams--operations, engineering, and contractors--to ensure work readiness and timely completion.
Promote and reinforce safe work practices across all maintenance and contractor activities.
Identify and recommend process enhancements to improve maintenance efficiency, reliability, and asset integrity.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance planning within the oil and gas industry, preferably with a background in pipefitting or related trades.
Proven ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance work in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong working knowledge of SAP, Prometheus, and related maintenance management tools.
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and contractor groups.
Results-oriented mindset with strong analytical, technical, and administrative capabilities.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Familiarity with API and ICSA codes and standards.
Ability to read and develop P&ID and isometric drawings.
Understanding of multiple trades (instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, measurement, well servicing).
Experience managing contractor performance and work scope.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in changing environments.
Work Environment
The Norman Wells operations include oil separation, gas compression, NGL recovery, produced water treatment/injection, and power generation facilities. The site has been producing oil since the 1920s and currently delivers approximately 5,000 barrels per day via the Enbridge pipeline to Zama Lake.
The position is based in Norman Wells, Northwest Territories, a northern community situated between the Mackenzie and Franklin mountain ranges. The town offers a high quality of life with access to outdoor activities and modern amenities, including recreational facilities, a full K-12 school, healthcare services, and scheduled jet service to Edmonton and Calgary.

Duration: 12 months (possible extension)
Start Date: November 2, 2025
Schedule: 84 hours per week, 7 days on rotation
