JOB SUMMARY:




To maintain building and production mechanical services as required, complying with company and GMP requirements. Integral member of the maintenance set up and change over team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



Performs packaging and manufacturing equipment evaluation, set up and operation (assess, assemble, align and monitor). Includes: breakdown (disassembly and inspection) of packaging and manufacturing equipment; safely rig, move, hoist and position equipment as necessary. Performs maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance (P.M.) activities and complete related documentation as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for building, manufacturing, packaging and other equipment (e.g. compressed air, boilers, HVAC, etc.). Works in compliance with established GMP and safe work practices and procedures, using personal protection and safety equipment as required. Reports any accidents, incidents and injuries or illness immediately and notifies manager / CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace. Identifies, reports on and repairs deficiencies in mechanical equipment and systems throughout the plant. Identifies and sources appropriate/required equipment parts. Performs minor repairs including plumbing, painting, carpentry and other general repairs needed in the facility. Fabricates (cuts, welds, assembles) components as may be required for repair or modification of equipment, including fitting piping in threaded, welded and sanitary configurations. May be required to liaise with outsource machine shops, fabricators and others providing services to CPL to address these needs. Maintains appropriate inventory of spare parts and works with the SAP PM &P Coordinator to maintain an accurate parts database. Contributes to achieving Lean Goals and continuous improvement. Assists in the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve quality and efficiencies in packaging and manufacturing. Provides effort and expertise to support manufacturing and packaging schedules; including offering guidance, advice and assistance / supervision to apprentices or others as may be necessary. Demonstrates flexibility in working overtime, weekends, holidays, covering vacations / absences to support maintenance team. Assist in supervision of contractor services as required. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



Education:



IMM (Industrial Maintenance Mechanic) designation / certification from an accredited Canadian Post-Secondary Institution. Applicant must be a certified Millwright or working towards Millwright certification with recent work experience in Food and Beverage, Consumer Care or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing environments.

Experience:



Minimum of 3 to 5 years of packaging maintenance experience in a production or pharmaceutical environment, demonstrating the skills and competencies described above.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



Must be able to read, interpret and update drawings and schematics. Demonstrated electrical aptitude to work under the supervision of an electrician. Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast-paced environment. Good verbal and written English communication skills. Demonstrated competencies in CPL's core values of Integrity, Respect, Trust and Fairness.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:



Must be flexible to support three-shift operation as needed. Requires the willingness to work off shifts. Periodic off schedule calls for assistance are expected. Availability for emergency call in. Physical demands of job - Able to lift and move heavy or awkward objects, visual acuity, manual dexterity, some repetitive movements and work in confined spaces Must respond to and act on calls / pages in a timely manner requiring regular use of communications tools provided. Working with respect for high voltage systems, hazardous materials and equipment. Support and membership of Emergency Response Team. Prepared to work in and support the intent of a cGMP environment, including adherence to proper gowning and work attire. Willingness and capability to work effectively with limited supervision.
